I've known about this show for ages and I hate that it isn't shown on BBC America. I've looked up clips on youtube and I've seen enough of them I think to equal an entire episode. I've always adored Stephen Fry, have over time developed a crush on Alan Davies, and I have yet to see a guest panelist I don't like. I decided to do some random searching earlier (not expecting to find anything new-ish) and came across this amazing, fabulous, wonderful person who's posted every single episode of this fantastic show here: www.youtube.com/user/NickFromFulham(for those of you who are unfamiliar the seasons go by letters not numbers, so obviously you'd start with "A") I should probably add as well that although each episode has a title (ie: Atoms, Aquatic Animals, etc) that is not the only subject the panel talk about. There's a vast amount of things they talk about which makes the show even more interesting (to me, anyway). ;D

Glad you managed to find this, megagem. It's hilarious, in an understated, English way. Mdh and I love it.

Glad you are enjoying QI, it's a big hit here in the UK. Stephen Fry is the most intelligent person on TV, he knows everything about everything - even without help from the QI elves!

Thanks Meg! I always make a point to watch it when I'm in the UK. It's so frustrating that they've not been able to work out a way to show all of the series over here. From what I understand it has to do with getting copyright permission for all of the various photos and recordings that have been used in the episodes over the years.

I love this programme! Unfortunately, some of the naughtier wit was lost when they moved it from BBC2 post-watershed (9pm) to an earlier slot on BBC1, but it's still very very funny.

I hope you like it kygal! I knew there were some Fry fans here and I'm sure there are some who (like me) have only ever heard great things about the show and have never really seen a full proper episode. When I visited England in '07, I caught the last 15 minutes of an episode (can't remember which) and since then I've been waiting for it to come on BBC America. Thanks for the explanation for it not being on there, Judy. I had no idea and I'm sure it would take ages to get all the copyright things settled.

For those who haven't noticed, I have just read in the Radio Times there is a new series of QI starting on Friday and it is back to its old spot ... BBC2 and post watershed BTW there is another long running prog. called "have I got news for you "with Ian Hislop and Paul Merton. Topical and brilliantly witty, if you non Brits get the chance to see it Try It !!

I've never watched this but I guess I should - thanks, Meg!
I love Stephen Fry's books (and, of course, also his acting, but I haven't actually seen many of his films to date).

Thanks for the suggestion, Frannie! I've heard of HIGNFY, but just like QI, I've never seen a full episode. I've subscribed to the person who uploaded all the QI episodes, so hopefully he/she will upload all the new episodes within a few days of their airing.
Kate, I'm the same way. The most recent thing I've seen him in is Alice in Wonderland. Having him give his voice to the Cheshire Cat was a genius move. His voice was creepy while also being quite comforting at the same time which I loved!

Which of his books have you read so far, Meg? (It was only two with me, "The Stars' Tennis Balls" and "Making History", but especially the latter was GENIUS. And I've got his guide to classical music somewhere among my unread books.)

And I've got his guide to classical music somewhere among my unread books.) I actually haven't read any of them properly. I had no idea he'd written so many. He's one of those celebrities I've always liked but I've never really delved into their work (a bit like Rufus was to me only a year ago! LOL!) All of my English family are fans of his and all of them own if not one, all of his books, so while I was visiting various relatives, I was able to flick through some of his books and wound up taking home "Moab is My Washpot" (the first part of his autobiography) that one of my uncles had an extra copy of. I'll be ordering the second part soon as well as his 'Stephen Fry in America' which I know is about him visiting every US state. I'm excited to find out where he went in SC (it was most likely either Columbia, Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Darlington, or Hilton Head Island and I will FREAK if I find out he came to HHI). I'll try and get the ones you own as well. They sound really interesting!!
