;)ok, now that i've got your attention, i'll confess that this is, in fact, a thread about the perfect snack to consume while watching roof. maybe this has already been done once, but i haven't found all there is to find yet. and i'm fairly sure, even if someone else has shared a favorite recipe, it wasn't this one. don't know how to adapt this for board members in countries other than the u.s., who may not recognize some of the items called for.
Puzzle Pieces
1 stick butter melted (don't substitute margarine, it won't be as good)
1 package refrigerated egg roll or wonton wrappers
3/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese (grated will do, but it lacks texture)
1/4 to 1/2 cup chopped parsley (packaged will do fine)
1/2 to 1 full tablespoon garlic powder (depending on whether or not you anticipate entertaining vampires in your bedroom)
1 teaspoon salt
egg roll pan or cookie sheet
waxed paper or parchment paper to line the pans with
(after you/ve made these once, you may want to adjust the proportions. the sprinkles i've suggested won't be enough for the whole package of wrappers. I just 'guess-timate' when i make mine, but they've never come out wrong.
Directions:
Melt the butter and cut the egg roll wrappers in strips (4-6 from each wrapper is about bite size) They don't have to be pretty. Line the pan(s) with the waxed paper and begin laying out the strips of wrappers fairly close to each other, but not overlapping. Brush each strip with melted butter. Combine the parmesan, parsley, garlic powder and salt and sprinkle it over each strip. Don't completely cover them, but be fairly generous. Bake these at 420 degrees F for just a few minutes. It's hard to tell you exactly how long, just yank them out when the edges begin to get brown. Let them cool for a minute and sit down with something liquid that tingles on your tongue when you swallow it and pop in a roof dvd. heaven.
if you need a sweet fix, substitute the tiniest of chocolate chips, grated coconut and finely chopped pecans for the mixed ingredients, but don't forget to brush with butter first. I've also omitted the chocolate, brushed with butter, sprinkled with coconut and pecans in tiny pieces and then added pinch-sized dollops of brown sugar - although it is a sacrifice to give up the chocolate. don't bite into the sugary ones too quickly after taking them out of the oven or it will take off a strip of something vital in your mouth.
i'm experimenting with flour tortillas instead of the wrappers, but i haven't perfected that yet. do you have other ideas?
