Hi - is there a thread for (supposed) Rufus lookalikes? You know what it's like, you're reading a review of a film or play, and suddenly, someone is compared to Rufus - often because they happen to have curly hair, but are otherwise NOT A PATCH ON OUR RUF!!! What do you think of this from a review of Spring Awakening: " it’s hard to take your eyes off Aneurin Barnard, a young Rufus Sewell lookalike with all the moody intelligence of his elder ... " www.whatsonstage.com/reviews/theatre/london/E8831233740708/Spring+Awakening.htmlActually, we could just forget about the lookalike comment, and focus on the "moody intelligence". That is a good description of one aspect of Rufi, methinks.

That's the first article I've seen where someone was compared to Rufus, but I'm still a bit wet behind the ears, lol.
The Joaquin Phoenix reference in Zen? Not a chance! He doesn't hold a candle to Rufus! ;D

See what I mean - it can only be about the curly hair. No one I've yet seen is a patch on Rufus! (Is there a bit of Rooftoop bias there? nah! )

I have to admit that when I saw Agora (the film about Hypatia (played by Rachel Weizs), the female philosopher from Alexandria in Roman Egypt), the guy who played Orestes, Oscar Isaac, was -in some scenes, not all- disturbingly similar to Rufus (even my friend commented on it). But-to me- he was similar more in the manner of a younger brother or son - not a direct Rufus replacement, because we all know no one could replace Rufus. He's the one with the red cloak. www.imdb.com/media/rm2706225152/tt1186830

I'm sorry, I'm not sure who Lee Mead is, but I don't really think he looks like Rufus either. Just the similar curly hair that was mentioned before.

I didn't know that Rufus was in it...oh it's not him!" but he is the only Rufus-(can be) look alike I've seen. Not only the hair his face looks a little bit similar too, but to be honest: RUFUS IS UNIQUE! Here is another pic of Oscar Isaac. On this he looks like Aggie with the beard...but like I said...there's only one Rufus in the world! www.hotflick.net/pictures/010RBH_Oscar_Isaac_010.html

Rufus is so unique I really dont consider anyone his "look-a-like". Similarities to him maybe. I do get that. The only exception is that old pic someone posted here once that may have been taken in the 20's or something.

Ha! Yeah, it was the split second, "Booo-yah! ....oh...wait... sigh... no," series of thoughts. ;D It was a little creepy for me in a nerdling way. I kept feeling like Aggie might stroll into a scene for a little father-son chat with Orestes during Agora. I think it is really funny (not ha-ha, but more "Twilight Zone music") that Orestes is his name, because it is the name of Agamemnon's son, who takes revenge on his father's death. How weird is that? (Sorry, my geeky academic roots are showing...) And - - that Robin Hood pic is eerie. But-yes- no one else can be THE R-Man-thank goodness.

The Joaquin Phoenix reference in Zen? Not a chance! He doesn't hold a candle to Rufus! ;D That little inside joke is based on the occasion when someone asked Rufus for an autograph with a Gladiator reference because they had mistaken him for Joaquin Phoenix ;D I don't know where I read the comparison of Rufus and Jude Law that went along the lines of "Rufus Sewell looks like Jude Law. That is, if Jude Law were a man instead of a pretty girl." ;D (And I must admit that there is a slight resemblance in some situations.) I haven't ever seen a good pic of Caspar, but you can see him in the background of his band's album cover and he seems to have the Sewell cheekbones. And a voice that is amazingly like his brother's

I know this is a pretty old thread, but having just watched TPOTE tonight, I would have to say that Ian McShane and Rufus have *some* similarities.... Rufus is much more handsome but i would love to see those two in a movie as a father/son pair.....idk, it could just be me

I think I read a reference to the rufus-ian resemblance before. TPOTE was the first time I notice ian, either. I know, I've been living under a rock. anyway, since then i've seen a reference to him in a catalog of british dvd's indicating he starred in a series as an antique collector-sleuth. anyone know anything about this or can you recommend something else he's done?
