honey, most of us have never seen a man look that good before, so we have nothing to forget. you're the lucky one!!! the rest of us are just living with the knowledge that there is something lip-lickingly close to perfect out there that we never even dreamed of. we're not actually obsessed with rufus, we're just obligated to fully appreciate one of God's best efforts. glad you're going to be sharing the responsibility with us.

i keep thinking if i say it enough times, it will be true. and if that works, i intend to start saying, "rufus has abandoned all taste and common sense and flown to my arms permanently," on a regular basis. but that's not obsession. that's faith, child, that's faith!!

Welcome, Dovescorpio! You sound like you'll fit right in! Have loads of fun feeding your obsession. I'm the one that's obsessed with Thomas Clarkson (Rufus' character in Amazing Grace) so, naturally, I'd suggest seeing that one; but honestly, you can't go wrong with anything featuring Rufus whether it's a big part or a teeny tiny one! My personal faves (other than AG and TOTS) are A Knight's Tale, A Man of No Importance (which unfortunately isn't so easy to come by), Illuminata, The Very Thought of You...oh heck, I love everything he's in! I will give you a tiny warning though, don't watch John Adams just for Rufus. You won't get him until the 5th and 6th episodes and he's only in them for about 2 minutes total. Actually, if you go to the screencaps thread for it, all the pics you see there capture pretty much every moment he's onscreen. If you have an interest in history, though, it's a great series to watch. TPOTE, however (his other miniseries) is AMAZING and a definite must-see if you can somehow get your hands on it

Hi Dovescorpio and welcome! You have so much to look forward to. I'd just like to add that there are several version of some of the dvd's. It might be an idea to check out the individual threads in "the work of" before you snap up every dvd you can find. E.g. The Very Thought of You - I believe is the American version, I know 1 version has cut alot of Rufus out. One version has dubbed over Rufus's swearing which would ruin the film for me (I know a member in Oz had this version). The Uk (original) is called Martha Meet Frank Daniel & Laurence this one Also Knights Tale - I like the "extended cut" version best. I bought 3 versions in total. I've also discovered many blu-ray versions don't include the extras. Oh and Dark City - if you've not seen it already you must watch the directors cut first. Now I do recommend this on blu-ray. My Blu-ray copy had both directors and standard versions but the standard version explains too much at the start and spoils it for me. As for getting hold of dvd's - most of mine were purchased on-line from Amazon, Play.com or ebay. I hope some of this is useful. Have fun. Nell

hi everyone hope you all well, sorry I ave not figured out the quote thing yet wd make it easier to write more clearly... Petru... you mentioned New Zealand was something for you - yes it something for me too i saw you are from Hamburg, Germany - I have not been there - I wanted to go when in the UK but stuff happened.... have you been here ? We have a lot of visitors from Germany. Megagem - Amazing Grace aye. i shall order today. am urgently in need of more fuel for my new obsession! Nell - thank you so much for those tips - which i shall follow up... you sound like one of the cognoscenti on his work! i want to be one of those! Anglophile - yes i am lucky tho i dont know that my mother ever thought so ha ha! and i doubt that any of those others that i was thinking of have aged anywhere near as well as Rufus. To be so truly fabulous in his 40s that takes more than stunning natural looks and the looking after of them, I feel - a rare quality of (poetic?) soul and intelligence may also have something to do with it ?!! ?!! Beautiful day here today. Saturday. Feels like Summer....

Welcome to the Rufus madhouse! ;D Glad you discovered our lovely man and decided to join the fun here. We've got some exciting Rufus projects to look forward to, and meanwhile you can do all the catching up with the huge variety of things he's done so far. TOTS was the thing that finally made me fall in love with Rufus after I had re-discovered him in the Pillars of the Earth (before, I'd just seen him once in T&I, made note of his name but never followed up on him). Have we already mentioned the wonderful Zen miniseries? Do get that if you can, it's witty and funny and suspenseful and it doesn't hurt one bit that Rufus is a stunner in a suit and shades. Among my other favourites: The Woodlanders (have some Kleenex handy!), In a Savage Land, Uncorked, Illuminata ... Re the looks and age: I think the man ages like good wine and simply keeps getting better and better!

Just been having a nose around bits I had not read before and had to laugh when I read about someone watching TOTS with three different friends, singly, and not letting any of them know what was happening. I did that! And when my dad and bro came for a meal I made sure TOTS was at the bottom of the pile of rental vids to keep my secret but still bro dug it out of the pile and said this was the after-dinner vid he wanted to see ... they both liked it. i sort of pretended to be too cool for school - oh yeah its not bad is it...
