Was only 4-5 weeks ago that I picked up Taming of the Shrew in the rentals - Shirley Henderson on the cover. Great actress. Week hire. At end of week I could not give it back cos of him in it .... pretended to store I had not had chance to see it yet and hired it for another week. Next week, phoned to rehire. Then the next week, same again. no letting go til my copy arrived. and then it did. Joy! Have also got Tristan and Isolde inspired by the utube bit on the bridge not that keen on history stuff usually. Listened to him speaking the poem about the twin towers over 2 days lunchtimes. mesmerised. unforgettable.
Googled for info and discovered here. Brilliant. What more can I say.
Bye til next time....

Hello Dovescorpio. I have been a Fan of the gorgeous Rufus for sometime. Going back to 21 with Patsy Kensit, as drug addicted Bobby (My boyfriend at the time had a thing for Patsy) and have been hooked ever since. I have loved him as Will, in Middlemarch, Mick, In a Savage Land, over sexed Seth, Cold Comfort Farm, beautiful Lord Marke in Tristan and Isolde and playing one of my favourite artist Mark Gertler in Carrington. Of course I have to mention Charles II and my favourite, The Taming of the Shrew, Tom Builder in Pillars and the brilliant Aurelio Zen. Welcome and enjoy Love Ophelia xx

Hey, Dovescorpio, thanks for joining us! Rufus does have that effect on people - you watch something for one particular person and - bam! - HE grabs your attention instead! You have SO much to look forward to - Charles II: The Power and the Passion is my favourite. Have fun looking around - there are lots of pics in The Work of...section, and in Media. Great to have you with us!

Hi, dovescorpio. Welcome! He hit me like a ton of bricks too, in interviews I saw before Eleventh Hour aired in the US. Then, like you, I googled and watched everything I could find on youtube, and best of all, found this site. It's a friendly place with lots of great information, discussions, and media. I hope you will enjoy yourself here.
If you haven't seen Uncorked (also known as At Sachem Farm), it's also available in parts on youtube. It's a really sweet movie and a very different role for him.

Welcome to the Rooftop, dovescorpio! Rufus is sneaky like that. You watch one film and you can't take your eyes off of him. So you watch another. And another .... and another... Enjoy poking around all of the nooks and crannies here. There's a lot to enjoy.

Thank you all for your warm welcome. Your thoughts on films to see are great. What I can buy or rent here in New Zealand is a bit limited and it is going to take some plotting to see everything I want to see. Your comments about what it is good on the internet most helpful there. Here is my local list…. Middlemarch, The Woodlanders, Dark City, The Dangerous Beauty, The Very Thought of You, Illuminata, Higher Love, Extreme Ops, Helen of Troy, Amazing Grace, Vinyan and John Adams …
I am intrigued by your memory of your experience with 21, Ophelia, you having a thing for R as Bobby and your current boyfriend having a thing for Patsy. Have you written about this anywhere on the board? I love stories like that. I am guessing that many of us have some interesting past emotional experiences we link with feelings about R in some of his films…
On Taming of the Shrew, I cannot offhand think of another film by name that has every detail so perfect for the story told. All that so good and as a bonus, well: in eyeliner and furry coat he simply has to be … the most over the top gorgeous man I have seen in ages and ages . I’d forgotten that men could look quite that good.
That’s all for now…
