:-*I opened a drawer at work yesterday and found a CD that was obviously a gift I had stuck away and never played (can't imagine why, but it is a mistake I have now rectified.) The Celtic Tenors' "Remember Me" has disrupted my day entirely. I have to keep stopping whatever I am doing to dry tears. Not only is the harmony just magnificent, but the choice of songs is heart-rending: "Ten Thousand Tears," "Danny Boy," "You Raise Me Up" not to mention the war-song "Remember Me" and "Still By Your Side." It has just reduced me to one long moan. It's like watching Mick at the train station or Giles collapsing over and over. Tell me, anyone, what you know about this group. I'm a new fan. I want to write a Fanfic with their music as the backdrop for one of Rufus' characters but I think it might be sensory overload.

I knew when I played it today it was connected to Tom in some way for me and it's been driving me crazy trying to figure out why. You're the reason, of course!! I cried all the way through your tom feature with that playing in the background, but it was a new song to me at the time and I didn't know where it came from or who was singing it. guess the combination of tom's photos and the beauty of the song are just more than a girl can take without falling apart. you have excellent taste, hon. plus, i'll never get through tom's death scene in tpote without hearing the CTs singing "Still By Your Side."

I don't think I've ever listened to The Celtic Tenors, which is odd because I love celtic/world/folk music. Celtic Woman (I saw them perform live in Savannah in 2009. It would've been a great show if I'd remembered my glasses ), Enya, The High Kings (who I discovered oddly enough, through Steve Martin's celebrity iTunes playlist. Their song 'The Parting Glass' actually helped me write the rough draft of the ending of my major novel), Connie Dover, and Loreena McKennitt are some of my faves. I'll look more into The Celtic Tenors. I'm sure they're great!

Got to see Celtic Woman at a concert in Paducah, Ky. as a birthday present from a friend a little over a year ago. Bought a CD and have really enjoyed it. loved the violinist and their percussion section, as well. don't know how i've missed the celtic tenors. i think i've heard the name but just missed their music some way. now i'm trying to find out if they'll be performing anywhere around here anytime soon so i can go let my mascara drip in public. i think celtic woman will be in nashville in early february and memphis in early april, so i'm trying to get up a 'girl' trip to go one place or the other. the trouble is, daughter No. 2 has a feb. 10 birthday and we may be celebrating the same day as the february concert and hubby has an april 4 birthday and i'm sure we'll be celebrating his at the same time as the memphis concert. why is my life so complicated? does God not want me to have fun? ;D

Oh, aren't those discoveries wonderful? I love those moments when I stumble across some great new music I've got a soft spot for Celtic music, too, particularly Enya and, most of all, the wonderful Loreena McKennitt whose "The Mask and Mirror" album opens with a song that has always made me think of TPOTE, ever since I read the novel. Somehow Tom and Celtic music seem to be connected
