And me here... I was thinking to go to the thread about the sinning, but I saw I am not alone... I have to say, I am in total awe. Hi, Chocolate, nice to see you here again! I don't think this one is a sin...fun stories, great actors, beautiful costumes! Rufus would understand. Wichi, that video is awesome! My favorite part is when she disposes of the "body".

I saw that too! I'm not really a cat person but I'll make an exception for Downton...

You Abbey watchers will need to keep an eye out for Lucille Sharp. She will be playing Miss Reid, the maid to Shirley Maclaine. The actress is from Lexington KY. Now I have no excuse.

Thanks, Rueful, that was funny (and so says my husband, who fortunately only visits the rooftop when I ask him...).

I've finally started watching DA and I was hooked from the first minute on. What a great cast and a lovely set of characters. I love how the storylines are intertwined and that we get both the story of the masters and the servants.
I'm really hard pressed to pick a favourite actor or character. They're all doing such a gorgeous job.

Checked out seasons 1 and 2 of Downton Abbey from the library and had a marathon this past weekend. Really excellent! And I have to say that I disagree with critics who claimed it got to soap-opera-ish the second season. I think they kept up the pace and the storylines very well. No disappointments here! From what I had read I had thougth that Lady Mary and Lady Violet would despicable creatures. Frankly, I thought the Dowager was a hoot! She had some great lines all the way through. Maggie Smith is such a good actress. As for Lady Mary, most of the time I felt sorry for her. Good instincts but limited by not having half the courage of her sister Sybil. The biggest probelm I had with DA? I kept thinking of how old Elizabeth McGovern looked (remembering her from her ingenue days). Problem is, she's younger than me. Ouch!
Rue - Downton's Arby was to funny.

Rue - Downton's Arby was to funny. No Dear one! She is young - (its just lighting and special effects) and you are eternally youthful! I am - no doubt the only person alive who has yet to see any of this series ... Call the constable! Ah well - the fact that I don't have a telly might have something to do with it ! LOL kq

I've been late to join the DA crowd (currently waiting for the Season 2 DVD to arrive) - but I've fallen in love with the series instantly. Give it a try, KQ

You have to submit. I've been hooked on DA since the first episode and have all the dvd's. Fantastic storylines and marvellous actors. My favourite actor in DA is Dan Stevens and I read a few weeks ago that he had not yet signed up for the fourth series. I hope he does because for me it would not be as good without Matthew Crawley! I know, I know they are all wonderful actors!!!

I will stand with you I haven't watched DA since half way through the first series. Inaccurate self indulgent tripe!! if we don't make a stand , they will make more.
