Did anyone watch 'Inspector Montalbano' on BBC 4 (TV) over the weekend? Watchable, in an ordinary sort of way. Italian, with sub-titles. I ask, because well, don't we have too many Detective programes on the TV these days? And the BBC doesn't think the audience will want to watch an Italian series. ( I paraphrase Mr. Cohen! ) ( I'll leave it there, before I get into a real grump.)

Mr Cohen should watch US tv. Its eighter crime shows or reality tv taking top billing. Bring back Zen!

( I paraphrase Mr. Cohen! ) (This smiley refers to Mr. Cohen, not to you, Lin!) I've been wondering for over a year now why German TV keeps showing adaptations of Donna Leon's Venice mysteries with a definitely un-Italian-looking German playing Commissario Brunetti but can't manage to find three nice little slots for Aurelio Zen

We can only guess what else they had on their mind. - Btw, does anyone know whether Zen was broadcasted in Italy already? (Dreamer?) Perhaps someone had complained about the depiction of Italian life in Zen in high places?

I agree Walt, I dont think he told us the real reason for the axing of Zen. Production costs I guess.
