Hi I'm new too, only discovered these boards by chance while browsing for more Rufus stuff. I moved to Australia more than 40 years ago and had never heard of Rufus Sewell until we got Zen on tv just recently. Obviously I have a lot of catching up to do, just as obviously it will be a labour of love. I can't believe that at my age (72) I can drool over a guy, but then you all know that it happens. Because I haven't seen any of his other stuff (shame) I am trying to find dvds etc, the one I want most is The Eleventh Hour, but so far cannot track it down here in Adelaide, not even at the ABC shop (BBC equivalent) and I don't buy anything online. Like the rest of you, I am disgusted that the BBC cancelled the Zen series, how shortsighted can programme planners be? From the messages I've been reading here it would seem that whatever country you live in you have the same problem, utterly boring "reality" shows and when something worthwhile comes along, it gets axed. Well, back to the hunt, and happy dreams fellow fans Janet

Welcome Janet, If you have lurked around the Rooftop for very long, you will know that age isn't factor here, all you have to do is love Rufus. our ages range from ** quite young through** my age ( 42 shortly ) to ** young at heart You don't have to be young to appreciate a goodlooking man,do you? If you would like to know where to start with Roof's work there's my favourite The Taming of the Shrew, you will find it in a collection called Shakespeare retold. Then there's In a Savage Land made in your neck of the woods ( You will love this !! Did you know his dad was an Ozzie?) Dangerous Beauty aka The Honest Courtesan and baby Rufus in Middlemarch Enjoy them! Here's something for you to be going on with Welcome again, love Frannie

Thankyou Frannie, I do feel at home here. Just watched "911 Out of the Blue" I had no idea it existed, probably lots more to look forward to at this rate. Everything this man does is so sensitive,so realistic, he makes you feel as though no-one else exists except you and him, OMG if only! Without even finding dvds etc, there is so much info on these boards it will keep me occupied for a long time tracking it all down. Strangely enough, sharing him with so many others is totally acceptable, almost like being a member of a harem! Does that sound ridiculous? If we were all harem members we wouldn't get to be No 1 very often, would we? So happy to be here, feels like home, Love you all

Hi, Janet, and welcome to the Rooftop! As you can see, I've moved your original post over to your own thread, otherwise people might have missed being able to give you the welcome you deserve! Zen has brought a lot of new members here, of all ages. You really need to see (and shouldn't have too much trouble buying), a glorious BBC 4-parter called "Charles II: The Power and the Passion" (which is where I fell for Rufus) and also what we call TOTS, but which you'll find as Shakespeare Re-Told - The Taming of the Shrew is one of four, and the best of course! ;D That's another BBC production. As for the rest, you'll get the titles from the "Work Of...section". Re Eleventh Hour, you will find that hard to get if you don't want to buy online, I'm afraid. Welcome again, and do just ask if you have any queries. GE2 PS - I just had to Gooogle your username! So you're into archery?

You are going to have so much fun here -- and we're going to be so glad you joined us, I can tell. Isn't it wonderful to know there's no age limit on lust when someone like Rufus shows up? Only when we're stone cold ready for the grave will our boy fail to move us!! Hope you find a source for all the wonderful things he has done. The 9/11 work was one of the first things I saw and I just couldn't get over it. I can only watch it under circumstances that allow time for tears and recovery, however. I was so moved by it that I got our local high school and some of the junior high classes to show it to the students on Sept. 11 last year. (Nothing like having a little power to get your way, is there?) Now if only I could issue an edict that all the entertainment bigwigs reward him with the very best roles on a continuing basis. ;D

Welcome, Janet! Rufus seems to be ageless, so why can't we be ageless too?
I hope you can find some of the titles you're looking for. Have you checked your library? My library will sometimes let you order books and dvds from other libraries that they have an agreement with.
As GE2 said, the Works threads will tell you a lot about Rufus's films, tv shows, and plays. You've got a lot of great things to catch up on! Beware of spoilers in the discussions; they're not always labeled, and some threads are specifically for people who have seen a show and want to discuss it. There are also some great photos in the screencaps threads, but they sometimes show scenes all the way up to the end of a films.
The Media thread has lots of interviews and photos too! I hope you enjoy looking around here.

Welcome to the Rooftop, Janet! Rufus has aged like fine wine, so I think women (and men) of any age can appreciate that. You've got a wonderful task ahead of you ... discovering the wonderful world of Rufus.

Welcome Janet/Toxophilite,
I hope you'll have fun here - everyone else has, so that shouldn't be a problem. We're from all age groups and geographical locations here - that's one of the things I like about the Rooftop.
It must be so thrilling to have so much Rufus roles to look forward to! I'm desperately waiting for something new, but a rewatch of one of my favourites is pretty good to.
Have you already seen Taming Of The Shrew? If not, you definitely should! And don't forget In A Savage Land, and..no, I'll stop. See for yourself, and enjoy!

Thank you all very much for the warm welcome, unfortunately time zone differences make for slightly disjointed communication but it's great to see so much diversity, computers have really shrunk the world, haven't they? Yes, GE2, I am an archer, have been since 1984 and just love it. Getting a little stiff in the joints now but I can still hit the target. Many of my archery friends are of a similar age to myself, we are aging (gracefully?) together. I am astounded at all the photos of Rufus you ladies have, so many different moods and roles, the man is a legend! It will take me some time to track down all your suggestions, the anticipation is spine tingling, where I start will depend on which one I find first, even if the budget goes out the window. I too was very moved by 911 Out of the Blue, no words to describe the feeling, I had no idea such a thing existed, I would have continued in ignorance if I hadn't found this place by happy accident. I am off now to browse the boards some more, thanks again for your very warm welcome, Janet

Welcome to the Rooftop, Janet! We all here are great admirers of his superb acting abilities, throughout all ages groups here on the board.
You'll find a lot more about Rufus's work here if you look around. And it may become a little bit expensive, too. ;D

Welcome Janet - I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here. You'll soon find that many of us are like you, ladies of a mature age who never drooled over a movie star until we caught sight of Rufus. I can't blame you for wanting to get Eleventh Hour - that's my favorite as it's where I discovered Rufus. But GE2 is correct, it is only available online.

Welcome...welcome to everything Rufus. Enjoy yourself on the RT. I am ashamed to say that Rufus went under my radar before I saw Zen. By the end of the first episode I thought, 'Who is this amazing actor..so expressive and he can speak volumes without saying a word'. It doesn't hurt at all that he's oh so easy on the eyes either. The stupid thing is that I had seen him (lots of times) and had thought often, ohhh he's rather nice, especially so when I saw him in Helen of Troy. That look...that beard....just stunning Before the Zen series had even finished I had trawled ebay and Amazon and within a couple of weeks I had purchased most of his back catalogue of work. Rufus, you cost me a small fortune, but it was worth every penny. Over the course of about 3 weeks I watched as much as I could. I drove my family nuts, please to say I still do. Only down side was that 'Roof's' characters die a lot...he died about 7 times, the worst and the most painful (to me personally) was Tom Builder. I fear he will probably come to a sticky end in the forthcoming ALVH film. Not much in the line of sequels for our boy. It's good to see though that he's getting plenty of work at the moment, lots for us girls to look forward to. And it's great to see that in The Occult and ATTAM he is a goodie. Have fun

Just done my weekly shopping and went on a Rufus hunt! I actually found 2 movies at KMart, a cut price variety store for those who don't know. A Knight's Tale cost me all of $9, and The Tourist was $13, adouble bargain as I also love Johnny Depp! Another store has TPOTE on order and it should arrive in a couple of weeks, something to look forward to. They also had Zen, but as I rarely watch movies more than once I hesitated, thinking it will still be there should I change my mind, there were plenty of copies. At least I now have something to keep me going for a while, if I can stretch them out a bit. Thank you to everyone for their suggestions, I would not have known where to start, or even known there was so much out there for addicts. Just love visiting this board, so many pics, all gorgeous at any of his age periods, and so many lovely ladies, all in harmony with each other. The world should be more like this, full of love and caring for each other (and Roof of course) he makes the world a better place, doesn't he? Have to go for now, my neighbour is due over for our weekly afternoon TV and chat session, back again soon, Janet
