It only seems to occur if you are typing a post in the BBCode tab of the Reply box.  So if you notice that adding an image or smiley deletes other text in your post, type your messages in the Preview tab rather than the BBCode tab.

Thanks for the update, Rueful.   I noticed I had the same problem with the smileys again earlier. Let's hope the bug is fixed very soon.
