Hi. I've been here for a couple years now - ever since Pillers. Not sure I'm posting this in the right place, though, or if I'm doing this is at the right time. I'm in the middle of a family reunion where 7 (out of 11) of my kids are home. Perfect timing, huh. Well, they are all actually still sleeping right now. But, my husband just came back from his run. Don't ask me why he's running - I can barely walk. I'll try and keep this short so you guys won't get bored. Maybe that's not possible. Just remember I'm under a bit of stress with all of these activities going on. The son that just graduated high school is not here (Alaska with one of his sisters) and greatly missed by everyone. Just one daughter (out of 8) left who will be a senior next year. My oldest son (40) is here with his 2 kids from Calif. He and his family are moving to S. Africa soon, he is in the DEA and he's been transferred with this wife and family there for 3-6 yrs. (Pretoria - not Cape Town). She was born and raised near Durban. Anyway, that's why they have gathered here this weekend. I'm feeling kinda weepy about it all. I was a mother that never wanted anyone to leave home and now nearly all of them have. We also have another son, who happens to be gay, who has been overseas for 8 yrs., teaching English, in various places - mainly Berlin, Barcelona, Saigon, Tunis (Tunisia during the uprising). He's happily back in Berlin, now, but sadly not here with us today. Also, a daughter just moved to Michigan to be near her husband's family. They have a one year old adorable baby. We actually only have 3 grandchildren. Weird, huh. Anyway, we are really missing them and the others. The rest of this lot live in Wa. State with us. Okay, enough of me.
Just wanted to say that I have fallen in love with Rufus. It's not just a crush. Right after Pillers I bought every one of his movies. I watched all of them in short order. I probably still watch a movie of his a day on my laptop. Have seen them all numerously. Have quite often put myself to sleep at night imagining what happened to them afterwards in In a Savage Land. That is my favorite movie. But, I also adore him in Charles II and Taming of the Shrew. I love all of his movies really. I was lucky to see him on the big screen when Dark City came out back in who knows when. I remember it well, was sitting in the 3rd or 4th row in the middle section when it hit me. There was quite a crowd there as I recall. Wouldn't have normally been sitting that close. I was completely smitten with him. Purposely went to any movie of his that hit the big screen after that and left the theater swooning over him. But didn't buy a DVD until Pillers. We were having another family reunion during the episode where he was killed and I screamed when it happened. I so loved Tom Builder, can't even express how much. So, you see that I am officially insane. And, I have been reading and enjoying your posts ever since Pillers came out. I feel as if I know several if not most of you. Just wanted to send greetings to you guys from the Pacific Northwest. Feeling kinda sad and weepy today, but happy, and thankful, too.

Hi, Wills! Welcome--I'm so glad you decided to join in! If you have to be insane, it might as well be Rufus-mad, because that's the best kind! I also love In a Savage Land. It's really beautiful, and beautifully acted, of course. Have you seen kissmekate's fanfiction about Mick, and his life before and after IASL? The stories are really fantastic. It's not hosted on this site, but here's a link for you! www.fanfiction.net/movie/In_a_Savage_Land/I'm sorry about your son moving away. I feel your pain a little bit, because my only child is going off to college this fall. Not too far away, but she won't be living at home either. Anytime you want to be cheered up, come by here and look around at the pictures, or play some games! Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Dear Wills I second Lassie's comments. Whenever there seems nothing but pain and another dose of morphine I climb on the Rooftop and find all the girls there as important to me as roof himself. Is it wrong to say sometimes they are more important to me because they speak directly to me. Stay with them they are great! We all have had dreams that we know will never be fulfilled and partings that hurt, but we must trust in the goodness all around us. Hunt the list and see if some roofer lives near you- Wednesday Robela and I hope to meet up. Guess what we will be talking about. I'll listen to you anytime if you want to off load.

Gosh, I think you've taken the longest, after becoming a member, to introduce yourself - glad you decided to de-lurk at last, Wills! ;D As Judy says, find your own level of participation. You'll already know we're kind of a Rufus support group here. Great to have you with us!

Hello and welcome to this wonderful house of Rufus-related madness! We're all officially insane here, at least when it comes to the talented and handsome Mr. Sewell, so this seems to be just the perfect place for you to be! I also fell in love with Rufus when I saw him in "Pillars", remembering I'd seen him years before in "Tristan & Isolde". After I began Googling his other works, I was quickly succumbing to a very bad case of Rufusitis And don't get me started on IASL. What a beautiful, beautiful movie. Mick Carpenter really broke my heart Feel free to join in any discussion on the board, and don't be afraid to dig up older threads if you want to. Have fun!

Wills, I'm glad you finally decided to de-lurk. As I'm sure you know by now, this is the place to be for Rufus fans - we understand your obsession totally, you'll never meet an eyeroll here! And yes, Rueful is correct, if you liked IASL, you should check out Kate's fanfics. (She writes as illuminata79.) She had a good grasp of the character of Mick and writes movingly about his life before and after the movie.

Well, I'm back. Bet you thought you'ld never hear from me again. I wasn't too sure myself. We lost our electricity last night during a storm. Perfect ending to everything. I'm sure that our pioneer little girl ghost loved that we had candlelight going on. It was just so hot - 104 degree weather - weird little hot streak. At least everyone got home safely. They were texting in all night. Everybody had a good time. Only one fight broke out. As usual two of them were teasing another one. She has a little arachnaphobia issue. No blood was shed. I just want to say that I loved all of your welcomes from around the world. It's so weird that you guys are even writing to me - kinda surreal. Even weirder that I wrote to you guys. My husband was very curious about who I was writing to when he got back from his run. Just had to know. You should have seen the look I got. I think he's afraid he's in for a wild ride. He does know about my Rufus thing - very aware of that. He likes to make little jokes about it but he knows it's not going away anytime soon. And, while my son was here, I did show him several Rufus pics, so that he would recognize him, in case Rufus ever drops into the embassy there in Pretoria. Or my son, by chance, travelled to Cape Town and happened to bump into Rufus on the street. My son likes to eat and exercise, too. This was kinda done in a joking way but not really. Okay, back to your messages. I did read kissmekate's IASL fanstories - several times. Except for the last one. Not sure why I haven't read it yet. It's hard for me to change into the next phase. I have to think about it for awhile. And I do like to save and savor things. I just so treasure everything about Mick. And Kate is such an excellant writer. All I can say is . I am very in awe of her. Can't believe she wrote to me. I very much enjoyed the other stories of Mick - by frannie, I think, too. Is that right? I should have researched who it was exactly. I think think she wrote those great Adhemar stories that I enjoyed too. And did she even do those great Frank stories? Sorry if I'm wrong. I may have combined a couple of you. I get confused. Anyway, I always give Mick and Evelyn a child for some reason - from the island. He doesn't know about him. I surprise him in so many different ways. His name is Billy of course. And sometimes Evelyn has recreated Mick's cabin, where her and Billy live - so Mick comes home to familiar surroundings. Crazy, huh. Anyway, love so many of his characters. Have even imagined Will and Dorothea's life together. Let me know if this is getting too weirdly abnormal. The movies always end just as things are getting good. Rufus, as you guys well know, is a most excellant man in real life, too. And here is where I could completely rhapsodize about him and his many qualities but I will refrain from saying anything personal about him. I do love all the photos that you post of him when he is out and about. I so appreciate those. Any word of him is so wonderful. Some of you are so dillegent about that. Love you guys. I know that are too many of you to list. Love the interviews, too. Rufus is so funny - so down to earth. Just wanted to thank you guys for your many efforts. You do a wonderful job on this site. It is so well organized - have spent many a day/night sifting through threads. You guys are so funny with your captions. The whole King Charles thing is hilarious - where he hangs out with all the other Rufus characters. Have laughed out loud many times. I would name her but I get her name mixed up with someone else all the time. Anyway, you know who she is. What a clever girl. Okay, gonna try and insert myself into some real time posts here today. Let's see if I can do it, huh. Thanks again for your wonderful friendly posts. It will be fun getting to know all of you better. And I have to say, I think that's kinda interesting that I took the longest to come out of lurking, GE2. What does that say about me? haha

Welcome, Wills, looks like you find the right place! Glad you like the fanfics too. Do try Joyce's Eleventh Hour fanfics, if you haven't read those yet! Frannie writes beautiful Taming of the Shrew and Frank stories, and don't forget to read Anglo's beautiful stories. I've written some Frank stories, but it's been a while now, though he is pushing for attention in my head, so that's a good sign.
I'm glad that you finally de-lurked - reading about Rufus is good, but joining in the conversations even better! Have a good time here!
