android viewing of rooftop

hi there,
i got the new samsung g3 in part so i could view rooftop without it appearing on logs at work.
but rooftop in usual mode its hard to view, nearly impossible to write messages.
a couple of times its come up with a msg that looks like its suggesting i download an android app so i say yes please. as i am sure that is the solution. but then it takes me to an advertising thingo and thinking it might be horrid viirus sort of thing instead, I turn off the ph, cursing. i;ve looked around samsung apps etc but not spotted anything.
am new to this tech - still struggle to answer when it phone calls me! if anyone can advise - much appreciated.
