Good Morning
I was looking at the Culture magazine this morning and started reading the Television Crictic article by AA Gill (what a culture vulture I am reading about TV ;D).
He was commenting on the start of a second series about a detective and his new partner -
"I would have given you odds-on that this series would never get remade, but here we are. They kill Zen and recomission Toby Stephens as a "hilarious" detective. The ways of commissioning editors are a druidic mystery"
Just so you know this is a quote - I am not trying to slag off Toby Stephens in any way - it's just so good to see that ZEN has not been forgotten!

I have long been convinced that how good a series is, how good the ratings are (unless they are blockbuster ratings) has little to do with the network decisions about commissioning, renewing. More often than not it has to do with how expensive it is to make the show, how well the producers of the show get on with the network executives, and the desire of some network executives to "put their stamp" on their network.

I think you're right, Joyce. I'd have had more respect for Danny Cohen if he'd come straight out and said Zen was too expensive to make, than give us the ridiculous excuses he did come up with.
Thanks, Lassie, for the article.

Thanks for the info, Lassie! I'd have had more respect for Danny Cohen if he'd come straight out and said Zen was too expensive to make, than give us the ridiculous excuses he did come up with. I second that!
