Had a wonderful evening at the play last night with RT friends and was delighted to meet up with a couple more ladies from the board. Thoroughly enjoyed the play, will not say too much except that it was very intriguing and thought provoking. Superbly acted by all the cast but of course Rufus did indeed steal the show. He had such a presence on stage and did total justice to the role.
And what happened after the show? Along with many ladies on the board it has been my dream to meet Rufus. Well ladies, mission accomplished. There was a huddle of people outside the theatre when he emerged and even though his car was waiting he gave people time signing programmes, posing for photographs and graciously accepting compliments. He is absolutely charming, as many of you know. I'd been told he is even better looking when you actually meet him and I agree, he is stunning. We exchanged a few words, I have a signed programme and a photograph and the most wonderful memory of a very happy day.

Well, I think there must be a way to speak about the play and the performances more freely - details aren't spoilers to those who can't go. Please. I am so curious. I think a spoiler thread would be a good idea. jamolivej, I'm so happy for you!

Just returned from a wonderful weekend in London with my daughter the pinnacle of which was attending the first night of Old Times! As jamolivej says above it was very thought provoking and I am looking forward to seeing it again in a few weeks times. I met a few rooftop member friends and we had a drink together and was thrilled to hear about LTM and sophie meeting Rufus outside the threatre earlier in the day. Another nice surprise was that I met Nell at last, as I happened to be seated next but one to her! The play was really interesting and thought provoking as mentioned and I will read more of the reviews on it before seeing it again. It is a very complicated and intriguing. All three actors were brilliant. They gave mesmerizing performances. Rufus who I could hardly take my eyes off was, as you know, wonderful. Can't wait to see it again and hopefully have the courage to wait for him leaving and try to speak to him.

Awww thanks everyone for all your wonderful comments regarding the picture of Rufus. I have to say when I got home and loaded it onto my PC, I was chuffed to bits....love to see him smiling. Sophie was in the picture with Rufus (so that's where I was Lassie - behind the camera), but I was not sure if she would like me showing her on the board, plus I thought you'd be more interested in Rufus anyway. Girl? What girl?! As for Lindragon's comment: When I turned my head and saw him walking towards us the first things that I saw were his amazing eyes and the dark curly hair. Another (rather superficial thought was)....ohhhh nice coat, but that lasted about one nano-second!! And just want to also say how pleased I am that Jamolivej achieved her mission...fantastic, and thank you for a great afternoon/eve. Can't wait for Ophelia to do likewise, then I won't feel so guilty about the queue-jumping!

Hi all! I attended the play on the forst night with my none- Rooftop friend. I was also fortunate to meet 2 lovely Rooftoppers for the first time, Robela and Jamolivej. We were all sitting in close proximity to each other - in fact I must have trampled poor Robela's feet getting to my seat . Now the play - I don't often use the word awesome (I think it's vastly overused) but in this instance I will. I've been to see a good few plays but I have NEVER seen a performance that matched the one Rufus gave on Saturday night. He went through every different emotion and must have put every last ounce into the performance and yet made it seem so effortless. What incredible talent!!!! Kristin Scott Thomas and Lia williams also gave great performances but for me Rufus really did steal the show................. I had read the play before going and couldn't quite make my mind up about 1 aspect of it. Having seen the play, it completely cleared that up for me. Rufus and the actresses put emphasis on certain words / lines which confirmed my initial thoughts from an early stage in the play as to exactly what was going on. The pauses were also there to let a point sink in. Very clever! After the play I was lucky to talk to Rufus again. One of these days I'll manage something intelligible I didn't ask for an autograph as I have a couple already and didn't want to seem greedy or have him think I am flogging them on ebay ;D He was his usual utterly charming self. I passed on a greeting from my hubby and received one from Rufus to pass on in return. I ended up taking a photograph for a complete stranger and when I took a pic on my none RT friends camera Rufus told me what button to press, and me a photographers wife. Oh the shame! ;D Rufus asked us if we had everything we wanted before he left - how sweet was that!? A few of us hung around chatting for a while after. This was one time I didn't have to run for the train. LTM great job on that photo! It looks even better full size. LTM gave me a preview on the night No wonder I couldn't string a sentence together I agree about the coat too I remember thinking on the night how nice it was. It really suited him.
