BEWARE!!!Someone has opened a Twitter account that at first glance appears to be Rufus: twitter.com/Rufus_SewellHowever, Judy and I have been doing some investigating, and the "verified" tick on it has been faked. If you go to a genuine verified account (click HERE for an example), when you hover the mouse over the tick, you will see a "verified profile" message come up. No such message appears on the Rufus_Sewell page.We were certainly taken in at first. Please be careful. (I've looked into the matter, and we can't report a misrepresented account, unfortunately)

Yes, I got all excited when this "Rufus" responded to my tweet to him. But just as GE2 has described, it is NOT a verified account, although whoever created it went to some trouble to make it appear to be one.  |

Is such a shame someone created an account with Rufus' name as the real one. I saw the same way someone created an account with my fav' singer Simon Bowman's name too. Is really such a shame. I just blocking the "Rufus" account there.

I notice they've now removed the tweets that were there, except for the first, so it still looks like it's Rufus's account.  |

I hope this person wises up really soon and uses their computer skills (such as they are) to something more helpful and productive. |

Thanks for the heads up GE2. anyone that sets out to deceive in this way is a cretin in my view. I'm not sure they have any valid purpose in society. What could they possibly hope to gain?

This is one of the reasons I dislike social media. Anyone can set up a twitter account, facebook page, etc. in someone else's name and it is almost impossible to get the companies to respond. They claim there's nothing they can do. Horsefeathers! Twitter "verified" accounts are supposed to mean something and they aren't even willing to do something when someone fakes a verified account?  ? |

More TWIT than tweet in my book. But joking aside if one assumes another's identity, how or why can this be ignored? I know that social networking, used sensibly has it's place for many people, but the way it is used and abused by others really let's it down.

That's pretty pathetic. Sounds like someone needs to get a life. Well, if someone's out to hurt Rufus, they're going to have to deal with us, right girls??  I don't use Twitter, but can't people bombard the account with posts saying it's fake or something? Maybe they'll get sick of see it and give up? If all else fails, there's always WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND; REAP WHAT YOU SOW; KARMA, and the like... |

Pathetic it is. I warn my kids all the time to be careful what you post and who you "friend". Its really not my thing but I know many people enjoy this type of socializing, so its a shame when its abused.

I don't use Twitter, but can't people bombard the account with posts saying it's fake or something? Maybe they'll get sick of see it and give up?
