I wondered whether I should put this here or in "I Just.." because I just want to tell you about the most wonderful treat I had this afternoon. Ten days ago, the National Theatre linked up several cinemas and art centres across the country and broadcast the live performance of its production of 'The Audience' starring Helen Mirren. I wasn't lucky enough to get tickets for that, nor for the repeat last week but this afternoon I managed to get them for this afternoon, which again was a sell-out.
M(o)B managed to take an afternoon off for us to go together, and it was truly magical!!
Helen Mirren was of course marvellous as the Queen and her supporting cast included glitterati such as Edward Fox (Churchill), Nathaniel Parker (Gordon Brown..YES!!!! Gordon )and Haydn Gwynne as Mrs Thatcher was certainly the equal of Meryl Streep.
If I am going on a bit, it was an amazing afternoon. You could almost touch the excitement in the cinema. I thought if it is as wonderful as this on screen, how must it have been in the theatre.
I am still fizzing about it.

Awww, that sounds fantastic, Frannie! I'm very happy to hear that you managed to get tickets after all.
Helen Mirren simply has some kind of queenliness, hasn't she?
