That sounds like a great birthday loot, LTM! I loved The Tudors when it was on TV here some years ago. A bit soap-opera-like at times, but very very entertaining. I know what you mean about the names. Very confusing! And speaking of The Tudors - I've read quite a lot of books on that historical period, and it seems to me that 80% of all men were named Thomas at the time!

I like Longmire. I watched the first 3 seasons on A&E until it moved to Netflix for season 4. Read all the books. They are great!

Do you ever feel that you are moving in a different universe to other people ? I watched Tristan + Isolde again the other night and wanted to punch James Franco in the face in exasperation but was afraid of getting splinters in my fist . Today i got the below notification from our local art theatre about showing of Broadway play. links.nationaltheatre.mkt6628.com/ctt?kn=22&ms=MjM4MDk4MTcS1&r=OTAxODUzMTMwODES1&b=0&j=NjYyMjcyNDY5S0&mt=1&rt=0:How is it that so many intelligent people can see things that I can't !? How on this earth did JF get a golden Globe and a Oscar nomination? Another example is the article in this weeks's Radio Times about Marlon Brando. Someone else I could not understand getting plaudits. Perhaps with Marlon, i might think he was brilliant , if i could understand what he was saying. There are several other actors, plays and films that I feel are in a different world . I could go on ...and on ...and on. And there actresses we are told frequently are beautiful; I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but ... please ! Some must have better agents than others. Does anyone else feel the same or am I on my own?

I totally agree with you re James Franco. It's not just in T&I that I find him wooden and unattractive. Generally, I prefer interesting faces to blandly "beautiful" (which mostly is NOT beautiful in my view), which leads some people to think I have a strange taste in men

I have no idea, Frannie. I guess all those people out there are simply weird.

LOL about Marlon Brando. I cant understand his mumbling eighter. Always wanted to ask this. I am not a James Franco fan and I am not impressed by his acting ability but everyone here seems to dislike him. Did he say something about our guy or what? I am sure we all have different opinions on what we think is attractive. Why do I like the way Bruce Springsteens lower lip sticks out like it does. I don't know why, but I do!

I simply don't like that whiny look JF seems to have on his face all the time and I think he's pretty overrated as an actor. Why do I like the way Bruce Springsteens lower lip sticks out like it does. I don't know why, but I do! Because he's still rather sexy!

Yes he is!
I know everyone feels the same about JF so I wondered if I missed something.

Kygal, It started when JF appeared with Rufus and a load of stalwarts of Brit stage and screen ( including one actor who was in school with M(o)B and my Brother, ) in Tristan + Isolde. JF was Tristan and RS was Marke. Not only did JF get the girl, in everybody's opinion undeservedly (I mean who would haveTristan when you could have Marke!!) but also his performance was similar to a block of wood. To add insult to injury, a few years later, JF was asked about T+I , he was scathing and derogatory about the film and the other members of the cast.

I think it's down to agents, publicists, and representatives. And, money. The right kind of money, and lots of it. Personally, I've never understood the pull that Benedict Cumberbatch has. What is it about him that sends people (not just females) ga-ga?! I don't get it... JF - Meh, I went through a brief phase of liking him, but I soon found his attitude grating. There's something so down-to-earth about RS that sets him apart from most of the 'Hollywood' set. Maybe it's his Twickenham brand of Britishness. Leonardo DiCaprio, too, was one I couldn't stand, but I've recently watched a couple of his latest films and he's not so bad. Bit of a Hollywood darling, though... I don't really know; there's something about some actors that draws me in, and something in others that I apparently can't see... Returning to the original subject of the thread; I've never really binge-watched anything. Maybe, save for The Pillars of the Earth and Middlemarch...
