Rooftopper "Closer" reviews and pics

Well, I saw it again last night, from yet another different part of the theatre (Frannie, I got a very good look at his bare feet! ) and once again it was a mind-blowing performance from all of the actors. I have to say, I thought Oliver Chris was the weakest performer when I first saw the play, but he has grown on me quite a bit. Rufus's performance just gets stronger and stronger - you can't help but feel his pain in the scenes where he feels so betrayed and angry, and last night he seemed even more vulnerable than ever in the strip-club scene.

After the show, there was a bit of a wait before he came down, but he was his usual friendly, chatty self when he did. My turn for the selfie with him! He happily obliged....and I felt vindicated for my klutziness the other day when HE couldn't operate my camera either! Hah! The first few times he thought the pic hadn't taken as the flash didn't go (hee-hee, there are pics, Rufus - I need to do a bit of jiggery-pokery with them, though), and then at firsthe couldn't figure out how to get the settings right. I was happy to leave it to him to sort out!

Finally, he was happy with these:

Great pics GE2! May not want to change that avatar for a while. I like the idea of the camera not working quickly and having to snuggle with Rufus. What a chore!

GE2 , when I read your post first, the bold underlined bit leapt out at me I thought then I re-read the bit about a mind blowing performance and I thought again. GE2 is joining me in my secret passion.
Of course, they would give a mind blowing performance.
I completely missed the bit about 'all the actors'. Well, you do, don't you?

AL is fine by me, if it makes things easier!!    And LOL about the glasses!

I'll admit I'm a little green with envy from all these photos of you lovely ladies with our gorgeous man, but well done to you all for managing to get past that starstruck feeling!  I wish I'd had the nerve to ask for one with him, as well as his autograph on my programme, but maybe next time!  I still keep laughing about how all I managed to do was stand there in awed silence at how handsome he is in person and hold out my programme & pen!

The play continues to go from strength to strength.  I love listening to the conversations in the ladies during the interval.  Rufus is certainly the hot topic  .  It's great hearing the audiences reactions too.  There was a lady that gasped in shock  .Sitting in different areas gives a different perspective and you notice different things.  I love seeing Rufus playing a drunk Larry in the strip club scenes.  He manages to switch effortlessly from comic to heart wrenching.  Throughout the play he goes from playful to earnest, from desperately hurt to explosively angry.  Rufus cleverly performs to the whole theatre space, often turning to include a larger section of the audience rather than standing static.  I sat in the circle on 1 occasion, and the same can be said  from up there.  There's so much more to it than standing on stage and brilliantly delivering lines.  

Nancy Carroll as Anna has great timing too.  She knows just when to pause before delivering the punchline.
