Thanks for all the lovely pics, though I have to say it's a bit suspicious how so many of you are having camera difficulties necessitating extra snuggle time with Rufus. Ah well, I guess I'm just jealous.

Ah well, I guess I'm just jealous. I'm with you on this one, Rachel...there seems to be quite a few 'dodgy' cameras needing a certain man's touch of late! Just kidding; I wish I'd thought of that idea actually! And it would've been convincing, because my camera's a couple of years old & has gone unused for a while...something could've gone "wrong" just at that perfect time...but there'll be a next time I'm sure. Keep the reviews & pics coming please, ladies!! They're helping me relive the moments that are already a week & a half in the past!! Wait, a week & a half has gone by already?!

Watched Closer today. I'm stunned! All of you who've been and posted about your visit were right (of course): great play with very strong performances. And our man is just indescribably gorgeous!

BB - So pleased you got to see Closer at last. Impressive huh? Photo from Thursday 12th March - Can you guess where? How does Rufus manage to come out after 2 performances of Closer looking so fresh-faced. I get tired just watching it!! And much as I like to see our man sans hat, he sure was born to wear them. This one has to be my favourite. Lassie - you look very smart in your photo, lovely smile too. The photo of the teapot at Trafalgar Square was really good, especially the illuminated bike wheels. I'm 99.9% positive that teapot was not there Thursday lunchtime. I took a lot of photos in TS and it's not in any of them. Maybe they just wheel it out in the dark!!!!!!

No pics from me - I'm a scaredy cat as you know! Well, I watched Closer yesterday. Hmm, if it weren't for Rufus it would not have been my thing at all. Quite frankly the language was rather too much for me - and, from the looks on many grey haired old ladies' faces in the matinee, too much for them too. The acting was good though and they certainly got into it. I think they were all strong but Rufus still has that certain "something" that makes him stand out. Must say I thought he was looking really good - very trim. Don't think I shall be setting the alarm for 10am tomorrow though.

A review said that Pinter's "Betrayal" is similar to Closer. I remember well that after a matinee performance of Betrayal I had attended the audience seemed to be a bit shocked - these were pupils at the age of about 17/18 years. And for sure they had had an introduction on the play beforehand. So perhaps it would be advisable for theatregoers to inform about the play they intend to watch?

Glad you were able to see the play, BB! Hope you got a chance to see Rufus afterward too. LTM, what a gorgeous picture!! Thanks for posting it! Quoll, I'm glad you got to enjoy Rufus's performance, even if you didn't like the play.

Thanks Rueful. I enjoyed the play tremendously, and, despite being biased, I think Rufus played Larry extremely well - a towering performance, if you pardon the cliche. Gave him the opportunity to show what a versatile actor he is. Unfortunately, I was too much of a chicken to hang around to see him after the play I did so after a performance of Old Times, and was so overwhelmed I barely managed more than a hello before I asked him to autograph my programme. Must try harder! ...

Gave him the opportunity to show what a versatile actor he is. It's so wonderful that he has a role that plays to his (many) strengths! That's understandable, especially after seeing such an intense play! The important thing is that you got to enjoy Rufus's marvelous performance! It was nice of you to share your review with those of us who can't see it. We get to live vicariously through you!

Must try harder! ... I know the feeling, BB; I was exactly the same as you, the first time you met Rufus, after I saw Closer! The moment I saw him appear on the stairs inside the Donmar, I was completely done for. He had seen me at that point, and I had resolved to get his autograph, so I couldn't exactly escape the anxiety by running off at that point!! I had to talk myself up to do it, and in the end all I could manage was a feeble "Hello, would you...?" and to hold out my pen & programme. I seem to recall that he even asked if I was alright at one point, but I just couldn't talk...I hope I managed a "Thank you" once he gave me back the programme... Glad you enjoyed the play too, by the way!
