I love that pic Rai! I look a bit dodgy but Rufus looks so good I'll post the pic anyway. On my last visit I had to laugh when the in the aquarium scene Larry pulled out the bent rose from his pocket and the flower head dropped off. First timers probably thought that was scripted he sailed through that well.

Cute pic, rai! I'm glad you got to catch up with the lovely man.
Nell, I also love yours. Rufus looks particularly yummy in this one.

Rufus looks positively smouldering in that photo Nell. Thanks so much for sharing it, just gorgeous. And the rose. It makes me laugh every time I see it. Poor bedraggled thing.

Great pic Nell. Thanks for posting. The advantage of seeing the play multiple times is knowing the "bloopers".

Awww, nice one, Nell!
The latest on the rose is that now Larry hands it over and then it droops in half!
Well, I saw both performances yesterday - and what a striking difference in the audience reaction each time! The afternoon show was a "schools' matinee" - my initial reaction was "they're going to let schoolchildren watch this??!!" However, they were 16/17 year olds, thank goodness. They were very vocal in their appreciation of the play (there was a q & a for them afterwards, so no doubt they were lively in that, too) - there is one very vitriolic shouting match towards the end of the first act:
Larry: I treat you like a whore? Anna: Sometimes. Larry (bitterly): Why would that be?
Well - there was a HUGE, collective, shocked intake of breath at that point! I spoke to Rufus later and he said he LOVED that, and that throughout the whole show they gave what he thought was the best reaction so far, "much better than when the bankers [sponsors] were in".
I was a little worried about his voice in the afternoon, but it was much better by the evening, thankfully - Rufus was still happy to accept my present of a packet of Halls Soothers, though - "I'm always up for free sweeties", popping one in his mouth!
I can't believe the run is nearly over..... Great to hear from Rai, though, that he wants to do more plays. StrryjumpSoon, please, Rufus!

Yes I heard about the matinee performance from Rufus later that night. He asked if we'd seen it, but I explained that we'd just seen the evening performance. He was so animated about it all. I just love to see the passion in his eyes when he speaks about his work and the different reactions to it. Yep, I have to admit, I did think.....what!!, schoolchildren??, and asked the age group, and was relieved to hear that they were 16/17 year olds. Phew!! Any younger and they'd probably have to spend the rest of their life in therapy!!! I reckon he will have a lot more fans now, and rightly so.... LOL. And I would have loved to have been in that theatre to experience the reaction to the end of act one!!! Rufus does deliver that last line with such menace and venom. Such a powerful delivery. Top actor.

Fantastic Pic Rai, . thanks for posting You too, Nell. Nice little comment on 'Closer' in the entertainment section of T he Independent M(o)B's morning paper. Closer With cool precision, Patrick Marber's four-hander about love, sex, and interlaced relationships still has the power to wound. But it's also very funny, as shown by a chemistry-rich cast in David Leveaux's wry light-handed production.
