Hi all! I contacted Renata about an idea I had, and she said there was also some interest here a while ago, so I thought I'd put out some feelers.
Many celebrities have dedicated photo galleries which are organized by year, project, and other things, to make pictures more accessible to the public. For example, Jenna Coleman has a lovely one here: jenna-coleman.org/gallery/ Throughout the years, people have attempted to create galleries for Rufus, but making one like that usually requires knowledge of HTML, CSS, and even PHP, some of which wasn't even available until recently-ish. Fortunately, I do have some experience with those types of code (to varying degrees), so I was thinking it would be a good idea to try my hand at building a gallery for Rufus!
Since the Rooftop and Renata's website have news, interviews, and other media pretty well covered, what I would make would only be for photographs, and of course only ones that Rufus would not mind being publicly available (no paparazzi pics, no pics with fans unless they were submitted by said fan, no pics of his kids unless taken with permission at a public event, etc.). The goal would be to make them more easy to find and browse, to gather ones that might be considered "rare" where everyone can see them, and to keep them in a place that doesn't move around or go offline or require registration or whatever.
At first, I would use a free host because I don't have money to spend on this kind of thing, and I would use Coppermine Photo Gallery software since it seems to be fairly easy to use. The biggest challenge would be setting it up and making it look good, which is something I can almost certainly do. The second biggest challenge would be gathering, organizing, and uploading the photos, which I can also do but I will probably also need some help to make sure I get everything. But I'm not going to worry about that until I get things set up!
So the question is: What do you guys think? Do you have any suggestions, advice, etc.?
