There are many "different" rolls I'd enjoy seeing him tackle, as long as they're challenging. Some of the ones you've all suggested sound interesting. I personally enjoy quirky characters. My nightmare roll for him is almost too horrible to contemplate, an American type Soap Opera. Ugg! . Ah, Rufus as Ridge or Thorn huh?! Now that would bring tears to the eyes!

Terminator 4, Rise and Rise again of whatever it was they were fighting; I'll be back (laughing), sorry, couldn't see him doing the action thing on that scale; but I would like to see him doing the family thing, that could be interesting.

I can see it now. Rufus with pen in hand ....now these are the roles the public DOESN'T want me to play & that's what he will go looking for. Being the actor that wants to prove he can do anything......... & I would like to know if British soaps are so much better than American soaps? Have you ever seen Spanish novellas? They are ALL boring. (just my opinion) I just don't want Roof to play a serial killer like the Bean has done in the new Hitcher movie. No cheesy horror flicks please Rufus! Oh & I don't want him to do a stint on any of the reality shows on tv like Dancing with the Stars. He is out of their league.

So you don't think he should put his hand up for the next Celebrity Big Brother then? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But, Britfan, I would LOVE to see Rufe on something like Dancing With the Stars (Strictly Come Dancing in the UK). I don't think that counts as a "reality" show - those are pointless, inane bits of worthless fluff, but in the dancing shows at least they are learning a skill, and they absolutely cannot fake it. Just imagine seeing Rufus learning to dance the tango...salsa...Viennese waltz...fantastic! Watching him through the learning process, the blossoming of his relationship with his dance partner, biting our fingernails and willing him to win every week, the public vote (vote! ye gods, haven't we done enough already?! ), the relief when he gets through to the next round...and the moment he lifts the trophy at the end. Not to mention the skin-tight outfits and shirts slashed to the navel... Have I sold you on the idea yet? ;D

Okay I will admit to wanting to see Rufus do a sexy tango or a paso doble (sp?) with a fiery young lady....week after week. Would be VERY nice *sigh* but the celebs that sign up over here are mostly D-listers or ex athetes, a lot of them trying to jumpstart their careers. I am not turned off by him doing TV, like a law show. I could see him playing an attorney. Definitely no BIG BROTHER!!!!!!!!...& no Armed & Famous!!!!! Can't imagine Roof running around with the Manchester Police department, arresting drunks all night long!!! ::)LOL

I recently watched the last half of "Broken Trail" with Robert Duvall and Greta Sacchi and once again it made me want to see Rufus do a GOOD story western! And again, it's because I just cannot picture it! I can see him playing a bad guy, even in a western (we talked about Lonesome Dove and the Mosby character once).........but I'd like to see him be the hero!
Another thing I've thought recently (and I can't remember what show I was watching at the time) but Rufus as a gypsy or homeless person.......something on that order. Really in a down and out position.........I can't picture it, so I'd love to see him do it!

Remember - Roof always wants to do the unexpected so you never know. Who would have imagined, a few years ago, that he would play Martin Luther, the founder of the Protestant Reformation, and then be in a film about the hymn, "Amazing Grace".
The closest he has come to a homeless person is Frank in "Martha, Meet Frank, Daniel, and Laurence" ..... US title, the brutally edited "The Very Thought of You". His Frank was hopeless, hapless, nearly homeless, and hilarious!

So do you think I missed enough of his scenes (Roof's) due to editing to warrant purchasing the Region 2 version?

So do you think I missed enough of his scenes (Roof's) due to editing to warrant purchasing the Region 2 version? I do, actually. The US release was around the time of Joseph Fiennes' flash in the pan with Shakespeare In Love, so some of Roof's funnier moments were edited out, I suppose to give Joe more screen time. And the language was cleaned up somewhat. I bought the region 2 VHS in London in 1999 and need to get the DVD. G xo
