Prophetic, hopefully - in The Stage paper (29 Dec), talking about the 100 top "movers and shakers in theatre's 2006 power list", Rufus is included in the actors' section:
"gave a fantastic perfomance as Jan, the young Czech student who finds an escape from his homeland's repression in music, in Stoppard's Rock'n'Roll. Deservedly picked up an Olivier for his troubles".
Well, the writer obviously meant the Evening Standard award, since the Laurence Olivier Award nominations won't even be announced until the week after next.
But, like I said, prophetic or what...? (hopefully)

I'm glad to see Rufus's career taking off. It's certainly well deserved. But I've been thinking that if Rufus concentrates on his stage career now it will severely limit his fans' access to his work and we won't be able to take home a copy to watch ad infinitum! I know, that sounds selfish, and I don't mean to be but I'm looking forward to his film career taking off, too. Maybe he will do some of both. He says he's unemployed now. I wonder if that means he really doesn't have anything new lined up?

I totally agree with you, sevensisters! I would hate to see him do so many plays (either in London or on Broadway.......since I'm a LONG way from NYC!) that we don't see him in many films! I hope he truly enjoys doing films and will, indeed, continue looking for "that special" film to do. I was also wondering if he really did or did not have anything coming up?
Has anyone heard if "Rock and Roll" was filmed anywhere and might be shown at some point on DVD? Michelle
