I ran across this in the London Times...
"— On the off-chance you haven’t read this month’s emotion, South West Trains’ passenger magazine, Stephen Tompkinson has revealed how as a young actor he used to let Rufus Sewell sleep on his floor. “He wore eyeliner at the time and got it all over my pillow case, which left a bit of explaining when my girlfriend came back,” he says."
Another person corroborates the "eyeliner story" ;D

I think it's saying some men want to be David Bowie but thankfully become brilliant actors instead... but I could be wrong.

and it explains, again, why those two seemed so comfy together in TOTS. (sigh, STILL my fave thing)

David Bowie was in TOTS? How did I miss that? (maxx whose favorite look on Rufus has absolutely nothing to do with eyeliner or fishnet stockings...)

(maxx whose favorite look on Rufus has absolutely nothing to do with eyeliner or fishnet stockings...) I agree with Maxx, although my fav looks on Rufus and/or other men have nothing to do with eyeliner or fishnet stockings, I doubt I will ever see a man who looks better in them than Rufus did. (Now THERE'S a back-handed compliment if ever there was one! LOL!) Is now when I mention I don't ever hope to see another straight man in eyeliner or fishnets anytime soon?

Rufus does pull that look off very well, doesn't he? So he wore eyeliner as a daily thing back in the day?? How weird.......or maybe it's just me that thinks it's weird! Oh well, luckily now he just looks hunky most of the time!

I heard he also wore nail polish/varnish during that period. Now there's a man secure in his masculinity.....would have loved knowing him then since we're the same age............
REAL men do play dress up and look damn good doing it, too.

(maxx whose favorite look on Rufus has absolutely nothing to do with eyeliner or fishnet stockings...) maxx - are you being very 'dry' humoured here? or shall i explain? i meant roof and stephen t lookiong comfy together! having been old mates at drama school etc. as for men in eyeliner - as a brit who was heavily into the new romantics thing in early 80's - i can TOTALLY go for that look on men! at least the ones who look good with it! can still vaguely remember one of my first snogs, with a guy with that look, and coming home with HIS make-up left on my face! LOL. perhaps it was more of a brit thing at that time??

Actually I was thinking of David Bowie and that somewhere Rufus talked once about his interest in him at that time period suggesting it was the reason for his "look". The make-up and clothes weren't just a Brit thing. They were popular in the States as well. It's just never been my cup of tea. Blame my provincial upbringing. I grew up in the heartland where they think a man who shaves on a regular basis may be too fussy. lol! And I thought you were talking about Rufus and the eyeliner looking cozy.
