He does drive. He bought a nice new car a year or so ago, but I've forgotten what it is. He's been out of London so much that he may have sold it by now. Lets see, in the movies he drives on the way back from the party in Cold Comfort Farm. We see him pull up in Kendal's car in At Sachem Farm/Higher Love. He drives a bus, a lot, in A Man of No Importance. He sits in a cab but doesn't drive it in Victoria Station.

It's a Volvo convertible C70 and before that he used to drive a Bristol 411. He drives a moped in TotS - does that count?

I doubt if he actually drove the bus in AMONI, have you ever driven in Dublin? I drove a London bus for a few years and I'd prefer that, frankly. I think a nice vintage Jag would be the way to go.

No, but I think I read on someone's blog a good while back that she was nearly run over by him in central London. Whether that's because she was overcome by the sight of him or because he's a crap driver, I really couldn't say.

There was also a photo in the old days (pre-roof.sewell.com)with him behind the wheel of a car. In that story, she also reported that he came out and aked after her.

Next soft-top C70 I see whilst in W12, I'm definitely going to be chucking myself under the front wheels.

In one of the more recent articles he speaks of selling his flat, so he may have sold the car as well. No point getting tread marks from just any old Volvo. Were you serious, you've driven a London bus? Was it a double decker? How do they drive in Dublin by the way, surely no worse than the French! LOL

Tinkerdog- thx for the link- can't open it now(doesn't exist anymore or what??) but will try later...well, Rufus might have sold his flat but not necessarily Volvo car-they are so good, so safe and so durable after all my younger brother is an ardent fan of Volvo so i know sth about that -hehe

Were you serious, you've driven a London bus? Was it a double decker? How do they drive in Dublin by the way, surely no worse than the French! LOL I am indeed serious. I've worked in finance all my working life except for 4 years spent on London Buses. It's a long (and dull) story but my first marriage broke up in 1993, after 8 years in my job I hated my new boss and wanted a COMPLETE break. Plus shift work looked rather inviting for some reason. So, I did the test and away I went. They were double deckers, sometimes good old Routemasters. Great fun but bus drivers don't generally live to be old after they retire....stress takes care of that. As for Dublin drivers, well, Dubliners seem to me to drive with the same gay abandon with which they approach pretty much every other aspect of life. Which is totally charming, I might add. Just watch it when you cross the street

What an interesting story! I can't imagine taking curves, and making turns in one of those DD, and in a highly populated city too!
