Does anyone else do the same as me? About this time every year (well, actually, I'm late this year) I start to diet so that I can pig out over Christmas (I loooove Christmas pudding, marzipan and mince pies... ), and then end up back at the weight I was before I started dieting! ;D This year, I've decided to go for a low GI regime, and then carry that on after the festive splurge. Anyone else on the low GI route to fitness? How do you find it? I'm pleasantly surprised at some of the foods that I can still indulge in - and the weight is coming off, and I'm not feeling too deprived. GE2

I feel silly asking but what's a GI? general intake or some new kind of diet regime?

Glycaemic Index.
The idea is that low-GI carbohydrates are absorbed slowly, so blood glucose levels remain steadier and keep you feeling fuller for longer, whereas the rapid glucose rush from high GI foods just makes you want to eat more. Low GI foods supposedly burn more body fat.
So potatoes are out (high GI), some rice is okay and some not, and most pasta is low GI.
I'm only just starting it, but it seems to be working (combined with increasing exercise) and I can still eat bread!

Thanks, I've heard about that and from what I"ve read it's the only way to go. I actually dusted off and got on my exercise bike today - I think it's been 2-3 years.

I'm on the seafood diet I see food....... I eat it. ;D
My problem is that we are bombarded with birthdays in October & what do you do when there is a b-day? EAT Then in November there is Thanksgiving & you EAT. Then there comes Christmas parties & more eating then Christmas Eve with the one side of the family & Christmas with the other & food everywhere. I am going to wait until January & jump on the diet bandwagon like all the other people.
