Geez Louise! I can't believe how long it's been since I've been here. In my defense - real life has been extra hectic. Since I was here: one of the people in my department quit. I wasn't sad to see her go, she was a bit of a whiner and complainer. But it meant we had to fill the spot in quickly; couldn't afford to do a leisurely search. And since it was a nation wide search we had to be prepared that the person we hired wouldn't be able to start in two weeks (two months more likely.) Spent all of May and June Zooming, checking references, and all of the other nonsense that goes along with a job search. Plus things are getting busier at work. We're gearing up to a full in-person school year. I've had to work pulling stuff out of storage that was put in storage a year ago and trying to remember where everything goes. Plus had to write a slew of memos about hours/stduent wages for next year due to a budget cut.
But even with all that - Kygal, I come back bearing a peace offering. In my spare moments I managed to get a story out of my head and on paper. Go check out the Fanfiction thread.
Glad to see you got your beach time in. We're scheduled to go in two weeks, can't wait.

Glad to have you back Rachel. Sounds like you have had a busy Spring/Summer so far. Hope your new hire works out. Yay a new fanfic! I will check it out this weekend when I have time to enjoy it.

I guess after almost 18 months of remote working, zoom classes and meetings, now that we are back in person things seem to go so much quicker. It's hard to beleive that July is hald over already. It seems as if the 4th of July was only
I personally am thrilled bo be back at work full-time. Hated remote work/being in the office a couple days a week work. Hated having to carry things back and forth, hated not having exactly what I needed right at hand, and HATED having husband reading over my shoulder. He meant well, but he had this idea that working from home wasn't "real" work. As if since we were at home we could work at anytime we wanted. Couldn't understand that deadlines and other peoples's schedules still exisited and mattered. Drove both me and daughter crazy sometimes with his interuptions.

LOL Rachel. I would not be a good work at home person. Distractions would get the best of me. Thankful I got to go to work every day during this. We did have a lot of zoom meetings and tried to keep in person numbers down. Really tired of all the zoom meetings. They are still doing many of them at work. I agree. Time to get back to in person. We still have to wear as mask at work even if vaccinated.
With my hubby retired, its good for us to have some time apart! Glad you survived it!

Yeah, my husband is retired also and really had nothing to do during the lockdowns. Couldn't do his usual routine of running errands, shopping, etc. And since he's a high-risk individual daughter would (rightfully) throw a fit if he went out to often.
At my work they've told us that we don't have to wear masks if we're fully vacinated. But vacination rates in my city are low (only 55%) and cases are starting climb again. I figure when the students come back we'll be back to masks.
Only a week and a half until beach time. Not that I'm counting the days or anything.

Such a frustating day! Good that we had the new guy start, bad in that I had to take so much time showing him around, doing this, doing that etc. Didn't get a single thing on my to-do list done. Ah well, in the long run it will be worth it. Looking forward to the weekend.

So hot and humid today I wish I could spend the day indoors. But have to much to do so will have to brave the elements.

We have had lots of rain and clouds. Still humid though. I think this week looks dry and hot.

This weekend isn’t quite done but I’m already looking forward to next weekend. Daughter and I are going to a performance of Shakespeare in the Park next Saturday. They are going to be doing Twelfth Night. We’re going to try and convince husband to go. He never wants to go, but after we drag him places he has a good time!

A very nice day today. For once it wasn’t stinking hot and humid so it was a pleasure to walk after dinner. I don’t think I mentioned that daughter got a Peleton. It seems you can do more than cycle on them. They have all kinds of exercise classes even yoga classes. She offered to make a profile for me on her account and for the last few weeks I’ve been taking short classes. It’s actually kind of fun. The classes are short, only 10 minutes, and you can do anything for 10 minutes. So far, so good.

I have thought about getting one. 10 minutes is all you need! I walk a lot in nice weather but it would be nice to have something for bad weather days.

They are pricey but I think that since they are so versatile you are more likely to use it. If you don’t feel up for cycling you can do a yoga class. Want something more strenuous you can do a weights class. They even have meditation classes. The monthly fee is actually less than most gym memberships.
