...need an I just thread. My DH just came in and told me that the 92 yr old man who lives next door got killed yesterday crossing the major road in Canberra. I feel sick. He was a very independent, still walking well and quite energetic 92 year old and was probably crossing that road because the deficient public servants who run the bus routes, reorganized the bus routes so that to visit his doctor took a good part of the day. I cannot believe it. I feel so sorry for his wife, she has Alzheimers and the last time he came over to our place it was to show us the cards from the Queen, the Prime Minister and the Governor General to celebrate their diamond wedding anniversary! This is the second time in 30 years for us. An elderly neighbour was knocked off his bike and killed when we lived in Bristol. I am so sad

quoll, I'm so sorry about your sad news. What a terrible thing to happen. As you say his wife is not well, I hope there is family there to help her. Alzheimers is such a terrible disease. My condolences to his family and friends, and especially to you. Keep your chin up, luv!

I, too, am sorry and they are in my prayers. I have been very blessed in my small world and hearing these type stories bring reality home who take much for granted. If nothing else, they had a beautiful long life together and maybe alzheimers will lessen the devastation to his wife - and they have wonderful neighbors who will look out for them. Do take care!

I am going to be depressed for the rest of the day now! I hate when people lose their lives because of the ineptness of others.
This happened a few miles from me, to a friend's grandfather & a few others as well, & finally they put up stop signs, all up & down the street to slow the drivers down. It worked.

Quoll.......so sorry to hear your news. I will keep all concerned in my thoughts and prayers. My grandmother had Alzheimer's for 10 years, it's a horrible disease, she didn't even realize when my Grandad died, which was really a blessing.
Take care, my dear! Michelle

...had a fantastic couple of days, having a Rufus-fest! I've listened to/watched:
some Dr Syn Higher Love Extreme Ops Dirty Weekend Gone to Seed Legend of Zorro The Holiday
Right, when's the next DVD release?? (This obsession needs feeding, I tell you! ;D )
Although, I haven't watched Helen of Troy yet, and I could always (always) re-watch Charles II........

I saw The Illusionist yesterday and really really enjoyed it. Ruf's part seemed small but it was ever so memorable as are all of his roles! If anyone has missed it try and see it - it's worth it if just for that one scene towards the end. I won't say more as I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
