Make that three of us! I've got quite large bookshelves in my study, but they keep overflowing (not to mention the unread books sitting in four or five big stacks on the floor ). But I'm like you, rumantic, I do prefer holding an actual book in my hands to reading on the computer or some e-book thingy.

By the way, do any of you bookworms know and use Goodreads? I didn't think much of virtual bookshelves before, but it's quite a nice way to keep track of your own library, plus you can discuss books, post reviews, add your favourite quotes and play little quizzes. And it's international. Nice way of wasting time ;D I had no idea this existed! Thanks, Kate! This is awesome! I just downloaded your book, Rumantic! I'm so excited to get started on it!!

Rumantic I have now finished Take out Sushi and I did enjoyed it. It is everything I would expect from Chick lit. Light, witty and above all fun. I loved Callie! A great character and one you root for from the beginning. As a dabbler myself, I was amazed at the length only because I feel as though I have run a marathon after writing 5,000 words . Well Done I hope to see more I don't have a kindle but after from being transferred from your URL on Amazon to AmazonUK an E-kindle was downloaded free onto my PC with no problems BTW I have left you a review on Amazon.UK Kate I had not heard of Goodreads before your post but have since signed on !! Brilliant site. see you there some time !!

yay! Thanks a lot Fran! It means a lot, and I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I wrote it in just 3 months, but the editing process took a lot longer. It was about a year and a half before it was ready to be send around to agents, but it probably would have gone faster if I was not trying to do it in my spare time (and I was avoiding making some of the edits...but it wasn't so bad once I got into it.) I found the length to be a little short on the whole, but I'm just not sure I could have made it much longer without cluttering it up.
And you might be amused to know that Callie is the name of one of my English Mastiffs...

great book, rumantic. downloaded to my kindle before heading home from florida yesterday and didn't' even argue with my husband over who should drive. i was happy and harmonious all the way home, thanks to you. must have been such fun to write. was a little worried about which hunk she would end up with and how the one left behind would suffer, but you worked that out nicely. if i were somewhere other than work, i'd dig my kindle out and go through the story chapter by chapter and tell you what i liked best, but i'm sure you can live without that. just know i'm very happy i bought it. now get busy on another one. be blessed, anglophile

Thanks so much anglophile...glad that you enjoyed it and that it made your ride home easier..(myself, I can't even look at a map without getting green around the gills, so it is an unspoken rule that I drive everywhere. Guess it's a good thing my hubs hates to drive I would welcome any particular notes you would like to give me (good or bad) as they can only make my writing better. As for the next one...well....I kinda got started, I have the basic story line in mind (I don't plan out every detail of my stories, I just kind of let them evolve and see what happens...they kind of take on a life of their own) but I'm having a bit of trouble really getting started. It is very very different from Sushi (more of a dark comedy commercial fiction)..but now that the kids are all off at college and the weather is getting cooler, I hope I can just shut myself up in my office and work on it. I'll keep you posted!

I would welcome any particular notes you would like to give me (good or bad) ! Rumantic, my main comment about Take out Sushi is that I am sorry you married Callie off at the end as I would love to read more of her adventures [And you might be amused to know that Callie is the name of one of my English Mastiffs]

Rumantic, I stayed up until 5am reading Take Out Sushi. I loved it so much! I've been getting sidetracked constantly and kept forgetting about it ( ) This was just what I needed to read after re-reading the 600+ page "The Woman in White". It was refreshing and I was caught up in it from the very beginning and didn't want to stop (so I didn't! ;D ). I loved Callie instantly and I pulled for her all the way through her trials and tribulations and I love her friendship with Tracy. One of my favourite scenes was when she sees Alex for the first time. 'I turned around to tell whoever it was that I was just looking and oh my God!" I have to say, though, my favourite character was Callie's father. I love how he never held back in his words. Especially when Callie is staying with them and in the morning her mother tells her: "You're looking better today." "She looks like S**t, Mary Ann." Well done! I really really enjoyed it and I can't wait to read more of your future work!

Yes, yes, yes. Anything Rick Bragg writes ("All Over But the Shoutin'," "Ava's Man," "The Prince of Frog Town," "I Am a Soldier, Too," "The Most They Ever Had" -- plus Pulitzer Prize winning stories in the NY Times and multiple prizes for other newspaper writing. He also does a monthly column in Southern Living magazine and teaches writing at the University of Alabama). If you read my contribution to the "Last Thing I Did" thread, you know how slavishly devoted I am to this author.
