You discover a new (legal!) potion to keep you alert, but you become hyper-sensitive to the slightest sound and to the slightest movement and the distraction drives you mad and you end up clicking on a link for "Franco naked", which makes you throw up and you feel so weak you eat your chocolate supply but forget the doggy chocs were next to it, and the dog attacks you and you end up in hospital. But at least you have a nice glossy coat.
I wish my boss was nicer.

Yes... your boss becomes nicer but you fall in love with him but he is married with a zillion kids and HE loves his wife madly, also your other major love ( greeneyed and curlyhaired ) is brokenhearted about your defection and turns to someone else ( his sweet gentle faithful frannie  ) I wish I was a brilliant new actress ,so good that Roofie demands me as his new leading lady in the west end and all his next films. |

You become the most lauded new actress this year....just as Rufus discovers that GE2's boss is female so the falling in love bit was just a scurrilous rumour spread just to take him away from her, and he declares that no matter how good an actress you are he'll NEVER work with you because of how you treated his beloved GE2!
I wish my leave from work wouldn't end.

your leave goes on and on until your boss realises he/she can do without you and makes you redundant and with the financial climate as it is you cannot find a job.. you are forced to walk the streets ( in the nicest possible way ..unless you prefer it otherwise )Gordon Brown stops your benefit you are homeless until Frannie says you can live in her cellar and she will let you hide in the cupboard with her when Rufus calls in.
I wish sometimes I wasn't quite so daft...but only sometimes.

It rained persistently and as you went to close your window you spotted Rufus outside and soaked to the skin (I think you know where this is going). You invite him in and offer to help dry him off in front of your huge open fire...

ahem... my first try in this game... My wish: my last two novels will be published, a full success, and for the film versions the actor for the leading role will be... but he would have to grow his hair. I do not want him with a wig  |

Good try, Bluehorse! Before your wish, you need to grant the wish of the person before you, but in a not-very-nice way (that's why it's twisted wishes!  ). (So for Nell's, it could be something like "you do have a huge open fire, but the chimney is blocked andthere's smoke and choking fumes everywhere, and as you're ALONE, you have to call the fire brigade....") Your novels are published, but when Rufus is ninety-three so although he's still acting, he isn't really cut out for romance any more - he's forgotten what to do! But, hey, no wig - he's bald instead! ;D I wish I could go to Rome this spring. |

You DO get to go to Rome this spring. However, it will be a work-related trip and you'll have to spend all of your time in meetings and listening to boring speakers at a conference. At the end of each day you'll have to spend all evening being social and attending cocktail parties with your co-workers.
I wish I could go to the Family History Library in Salt Lake City this weekend.
