I think Stoppard is on a roll.
TOM STOPPARD's trilogy THE COAST OF UTOPIA is the big winner at the 2007 Outer Critics Circle Awards, picking up six prizes including Outstanding New Broadway Play. The Coast Of Utopia also collected Outstanding Director Of A Play for Jack O'Brien, and Outstanding Actress for Martha Plimpton, it was announced last night (13May07). Elsewhere, Spring Awakening took home three awards including Outstanding New Broadway Musical and Outstanding New Score. Frank Langella won Outstanding Actor In A Play for Frost/Nixon, while Eve Best won Outstanding Actress In A Play for A Moon For The Misbegotten. The annual Outer Critics Circle Awards are voted for by members of more than 90 newspapers, magazines, and radio and TV stations. The awards themselves will be presented at a ceremony in Sardi's Restaurant, New York City on 24 May (07).

Next set of awards (Drama Desk Awards) for Coast of Utopia... just think all things being equal we'll be doing this next year for Rufus! tinyurl.com/2rrqhvTOM STOPPARD play THE COAST OF UTOPIA is leading the charge at next month's (Jun07) Tony Awards, after picking up seven prizes at the 52nd Drama Desk Awards last night (20May07). Among the awards The Coast Of Utopia collected at the New York event were Best Play, Best Director for Jack O'Brien and Best Featured Actress for Martha Plimpton.and a shout out for my beloved Frank Langella who won best actor. He's got so many awards he can't fit them in a room, still it's wonderful to see talent recognized.

Tonys today for Tom, Billy Crudup, Jennifer Ehle, Jack O'Brien (director) and the designers. WOOHOO!!!! And look what I found while gettying Tom: ‘Spring Awakening’ and ‘Coast of Utopia’ Rack Up Tony Awards The 61st annual Tony Awards last night were dominated by two shows drawn from the 19th century: “Spring Awakening,” about sexually frustrated German teenagers in that era, won best musical and most of the other musical awards, while “The Coast of Utopia,” Tom Stoppard’s epic period trilogy about Russian intellectuals, set a record for the most awards won by a play in Tony history. “Coast,” an eight-and-a-half-hour epic produced by Lincoln Center Theater, won best play, best director, best featured actor and actress, and several design awards. “I feel a bit nostalgic, actually,” Mr. Stoppard said, “since it’s been 40 years since I first came here with a play, and I’m sentimental enough to thank the New York theater for having me, for good times and good friends.” The play was a $7.5 million gamble for the nonprofit Lincoln Center Theater that paid off in critical acclaim and popular success. Bernard Gersten, the theater’s executive producer, gave “thanks to the state of the art board of directors of Lincoln Center who urge us on in our follies.”

The picture looks like it's from The Raisa Gorbachev thing. I didn't actually go look to see what it was. It's definitely NOT NYC anywhere near Rockefeller Center I can tell you that much.
I doubt everyone would be chatting up Rufus no matter how good he looks in his tux if Tom had just won the Tony for Coast of Utopia.

I didn't mean it that way dreamer. I only meant that was also a clue to me that it wasn't taken at the Tony's. ;D

I really enjoyed the Tony's (as usual) and was glad Stoppard & friends did so well. I do hope that "Spring Awakening" is still playing when I go see R&R in January. I'd really like to see that one. Looks pretty darn good and I *love* musicals, especially those that try to break the mold a bit.

I feel like the man in that picture should be called Tommy... (Rufus is still prettier. Sorry Roof.)
I think that is the photo on the back of one of the published 'somethingoranothers' that I have.
