Um...
Let's see, loved Antony and Cleopatra with my beloved Marton. He was fabulous. The audience left the theatre saying, who was that? Why don't we know him? Why haven't wee seen him before?
Liked Drunk Enough to Say I Love You. Caryl Churchill always has something interesting to say but I don't think most of the rest of the audience cared much for what they perceived to be US bashing but what seemed to me to be Tony Blair bashing.
And should have listened to Uke about The Seafarer. Not my cuppa but it was fun to see Ciarán Hinds on stage. There are times when you understand why people are where they are. For me he was the only high point in an otherwise predictable afternoon of theatre.

I'm still jealous you saw Marton live and in person, but am glad that this seems like a great opportunity for "the world" to finally discover him.

Well I don't know about the world, but definitely the NY theatre kids. The show was full of serious theatre geeks (natch, most folks don't want to sit through 3 hours of shakespeare) But in reality it was a show most people could have found something to enjoy. There was plenty of sex, murder, blood and drama and Marton in minimal clothing . And water... did I mention water? Seems to be a theme in NY of late--having real water on stage. In Coast of Utopia there was water everywhere, some real, some not and last summer I saw a show where it rained on stage, repetitiously.

Did you make it to Zabar's? Oh and coincidentally, I passed the Rosa Mexicana you were referring to yesterday. It's opposite Lincoln Center on 9th and like 64th.

Yep, went to Zabar's Easter morning (and H&H and Citarella). Turned out to be an excellent choice for everything other than the Perguina Eggs which they had run out of. Actually the Rosa Mexicana that I was talking about used to be up on 84th and B'way. It's been gone for ages. Back in the halcyon days of no responsibility, staying up all night and drinking until dawn they put a restaurant in that space called Ancora. We used to spend a great deal of time there because I was involved with someone that lived on 86th, and I loved the name. In time Ancora became Zona Rosa then it became Rosa Mexicana. Not sure what's up there now, but the Yupper West Side used to be one of my favorite stomping grounds. There is a terrible dive of a place on 7th between 74th and 75th that we used to hang out in that is still there.

The place you pointed out on B'way and 74th? Or a different bar?

You're just toying with me now, aren't you? STOP IT!!! I think you ought to post a pic of buffed Marton, so everyone will know "what all the fuss is about". Isn't it funny that as much as I talk about loving to see him scantily clad, that I don't have any pics of him as such?

Whatever...... I guess its just me who likes men only for their beauty ... and if they have a little talent as well, that's okay too. Okay, okay. I confess. I only cared for Marton because he had a propensity for taking off his clothes and he looked so nice when he did it. Well there were other things too but none of them had anything to do with talent or brains. It was fun. Now imagine my chagrin to find out the man is a brilliant theatre actor. It's just impossible to properly objectify him any longer. I'm heart broken. And I need a replacement.
