Nice to see the Carrington scene as a choice as its always been one of my favs. I think my fav line is when Jonathan Pryce as Lytton Strachey comments how it was "thrilling" after Rufus' character tried to beat him up, as that was not the response I expected, but in retrospect, its a very Strachey comment. LOL.

LOL. Actually there are several scenes in this I like. The garden scene with Gertler enlisting Lytton's aid to get Carrington into bed is one of my favorites. And I just adore Rufus in his bathing costume. I have no idea why, I just do. There is something so spectacularly absurd about him standing there in that get-up dripping water and arguing with her about sex that I just can't resist it. He was so young and beautiful and it was so silly that she didn't want him--though he was cross most of the time. I hate the film by the way. I don't think it's a bad film exactly, I just don't care for it. But Jonathan Pryce is quiet good in it.

Look at his relationship with Barbara Villiers. I think that's why she held on to him for so long. Yes, I think that would be correct!

But Jonathan Pryce is quiet good in it. Yes, I agree, he was very good in this role, and apparently very much like the real Strachey.

Actually there are several scenes in this I like. The garden scene with Gertler enlisting Lytton's aid to get Carrington into bed is one of my favorites. Seriously! As an audience member you're like, "Oh, just have sex with him and dump him if you must, you silly girl!" You can't really blame him for being pissed off at her, as she really IS leading him on. Its like give him what he wants or let him go, ya know? LOL. Well, I had a teacher in college who was obsessed with the Bloomsbury Group, so I find this movie fascinating, I never get to the point of thinking whether it is any good or not, which it probably isn't. Edited to add: I find it interesting that Rufus actually does resemble the real Mark Gertler: www.spartacus.schoolnet.co.uk/ARTgertler.htm

You mean in the way that they are both men with hair? Yes, I agree they are both men with hair. LOL! But they are both men with dark, CURLY hair!!!! That's closer than Hollywood gets most of the time to the actor looking like the real person they are playing. ;D I wonder who was the only person who voted for the Carrington scene so far? Hmmmmm......this is a difficult one.

I can see now why Dora wouldn't concede-he has no shoulders to speak of and looks about thirteen.

Do we want to let this run another week? Or shall we cut it off this weekend and start a new one?
A lot of you had ideas for a next month, if they are complicated and will require multiple iterations then the sooner we start the better.

Cut off and start a new one! I want me some some baby Roof. Okay, vote, vote, vote. We'll close it up Monday 7 May 12AM BST for The May Clip of the Month-- Then we'll get on to some baby roof. Suggestions for the category? And don't tell me favorite scene from the 90s or we'll be here 3 months from now trying to get a list to vote. Thanks to every one who played.

How about from pre-1997 roles? Before he hit his 30s (so maybe 1998 release stuff should be included).
Or maybe we first need a definition of when he stopped being Baby Rufe and became Grown-Up Rufe??? LOL
