So gang lets have your suggestions for the best comedic moment in Rufus' films. If you want to choose one from Amazing Grace, chose it as I "SHOULD" have a copy of the picture by mid august. Let's hear your suggestions and have fun!

Well, far and away the funniest thing that Rufus has done (that I've seen anyway) is TOTS, and I suspect we'll have more than a couple of suggestions from that particular little gem. So let me start off with the church scene, beginning with the arrival of Petruchio and Harry on the moped. Also, the scene with Petruchio and Kate bursting through the revolving doors at Heathrow would be a fine contender.

Yes! Martha is one of my favorites because it was so funny to me. I nominate the museum scene! Even my 7 year old thinks that scene is funny.

i agree with Ruthy - in TOTS there are just too many funny moments to choose from! How about the park scene with the bike and ball incident?

These are great. How about something unconventionally funny? One of the things that makes Rufus such a brilliant actor is his ability to find humor in the everyday. Amazing Grace is a great example of that.
I have a couple of favorites:
One is in Ali Baba when Rufus is going through his litany of future businesses. Each is more absurd than the last.
Another is Dominiques little temper tantrum when he's not the star of the show in Illuminata.
Or Ian's absurd fall when he's speaking with his girlfriend in Extreme Ops.
And there are dozens more...

How about the "they brought me a bat to marry!" scene in Charles II? There's a lovely little trying-hard-not-to-laugh expression in that scene. As there is in Higher Love/At Sachem Farm/Uncorked when Mr Tang is doing his party piece and Ross is laughing behind his fingers. Or his gulp when Mr Tang drinks the green smoothie. Or when he demonstrates eating meat to the cook. And the manic climbing of the pillar and then realising how high up he is. And the "Kate...we don't need artificial stimulants" scene in TOTS (I love that park scene, too). And Seth and the bull and the wink in Cold Comfort Farm. And finding out about the slug(?) after his "dinner party" in The Woodlanders. You're right, maxx, there are lots

Isn't there a ridiculous scene where the kids snowboard on the roof and through a window? I agree on CCF too, Seth's tea scene is hilarious too. And him going to Hollywood.

I also adore the ball scene in TOTS. I was thinking last night that this, although brief, probably tops them all for comic timing. And the cheeky look on his face when he turns to the horrified Kate and says "Kids, eh?" is something to behold.

My money is on the scene in Martha with Monica Potter where he says, "the perfect woman is me with breasts"..... funniest moment in an otherwise unspectacular film........

My money is on the scene in Martha with Monica Potter where he says, "the perfect woman is me with breasts"..... funniest moment in an otherwise unspectacular film........ the R2 version of this is so much better. Those few little added scenes make such a difference in Frank. He doesn't come across as nearly such a self-centered wanker. In fact, of the lot, in the R2 version, though he's poor and nuts, he's still the best choice. He's really quite neurotically endearing. It can be really difficult to see that in the R1 version if you don't happen to be inflicted with Rufusitus.

I double over at TOTS wedding night scene where, flung onto the bed by Petrucchio,Kate snarls "Well, do it then" and Petrucchio roars "I'm going to"..( or words to that effect)
.UNfortunatel IMOP, the funniest moments in TOTS are Shirley Henderson's (covering my head as I say that on this site).

I agree. TOTS amuses me but it isn't by far one of my favorite Rufus films. I'm in a complete minority here. If you like you can come hide behind me.

THanks , Maxx...I haven't seen all of his films yet, so I found him funniest in TOTS. Otherwise, in Illulmininata, as credits roll, his bow in the fashion of Charles Laughton as Quasimodo was funny.
Also, Martha, Meet Frank et al...I thought his bus scene rehearsal funny, and the row in the restaurant also funny.

So, if I didn't think Frank was a wanker in the R1 version (I just thought him a insecure, funny and wee bit sad character) does that mean I'm necessarily infected with Rufusitus? ;D
