So, if I didn't think Frank was a wanker in the R1 version (I just thought him a insecure, funny and wee bit sad character) does that mean I'm necessarily infected with Rufusitus? ;D (looks around) Have you noticed where you are? Isn't Rufusitus a prerequiste for entry?

Also, Martha, Meet Frank et al...I thought his bus scene rehearsal funny. An interesting bit or trivia about that bus scene. Frank was rehearsing ("I love my mother, I LOVE my mother") a scene from "The Seagull" which my friends and I saw at the National when were in London for RnR. Ben Whishaw had the lead. Roof was expecting him when we were chatting in the Royal Court bar, and he arrived shortly after we did. Ginny

I just got an email from Amazon UK that they shipped Amazing Grace so if anyone wants to pick a scene from that (someone mentioned the scene where Clarkson was sitting one Equiano's grave) I will have the dvd to use in a few days.

My favorite funny from AG was when someone asked the group of abolishonists something like, "So, do any of you saints drink?" and Clarkson pulls out his flask, says "This one does" and takes a swig. ;D Love it!
There's so many good ones in TOTS. When I first watched it I really laughed hard at the church scene. I love when Petruchio responds to one of Kate's digs by pointing and saying "thats not kind" and I doubled over later when he thunders "I will!!" and a baby starts just wailing!
In the Last King--the look on Charles face when Katherine gives him an earful in Portuguese about his mistress--and then he marches out to see said mistress wearing a smirk--is priceless. Not terribly ha, ha funny, but is one of those excellent subtle ones, as suggested. I just looove him in that whole film.

you know we're talking about this and I'm wondering how Rufus got the reputation for being brooding and byronic. Very few of his roles don't have at least some humor in them with the possible exceptions of HIV and Hamlet and even in HIV he has some nice lighter moments with Kate. I think the poor fellow has been misunderstood due to his lack of smiles in photo shoots.

I think the poor fellow has been misunderstood due to his lack of smiles in photo shoots. I think you're right! I remember reading an interview, and for once the interviewer didn't seen too taken with Ruf. She was actually giving him a bit of a hard time, and asked him why, if he really didn't want to be described as brooding or smoldering, did he continue to pose looking intense and unsmiling. He told her that he looks goofy when he smiles, or has a goofy smile, something to that effect. She noted, that when his picture was taken for the article, he still didn't bother to try to look any different. (I don't think she liked our Ruf)

That's interesting Ree. He seems to smile frequently enough these days. It sounds like something one might think when one was young and trying to create a certain image to be taken seriously. Especially someone gifted and intelligent who was judged on their looks one time too many.

if anyone would like to add anything, please do. I'm going to put up the first poll this weekend. You know, the more I think about it, the hardest I laughed in TOTS was the scene where Petruchio knocks over Harry in the church, mubling something about Harry not having a "mobile". It was a great bit of physical comedy on both actors parts .... and funny because it was so, well ..... unexpected ..... like Petruchio.

What about the pratfalls in PJT and At Sachem Farm? They were pretty funny - especially in ASF. Hadn't he just told off Uncle Cullen for looking stupid, then hey-ho....!

What about the pratfalls in PJT and At Sachem Farm? Ruf DOES do a great pratfall. I do hope we get to see him in a full on comedy someday. Wouldn't he be great as Elyot in "Private Lives"? He'd definitely knock that one out of the park.
