Well, I've just seen the episode 6, Frozen and I'm very glad having seen our Ruf very relaxed and showing every sort of his funny expressions. His face was all-changing and his eyes winking! But the story seems banal to me, even I don't understand it very well. Later I'll put here some funny screen caps. What do you think?

I still am not a fan of all the make-up. He doesn't need it. The story line was interesting, however I wish not to know so much early on, I would rather discover the mystery with Jacob Hood not ahead of him. Pitzel

Thanks for sharing the interview, sharman. I enjoyed hearing Rufus in his natural accent again. What he said about British actors being "fodder" for American television was typical Rufus modesty. What a guy!

I was in natural voice withdrawal - thank you!
It is such an intellectual series that it would be interesting to see two hour episodes. Many of the British mysteries are in two hour slots with only six or so episodes but it would allow so much more time to develop the story line and the characters. The US used to do this with Columbo, McLeod and McMillan & Wife.
In each of these interviews he mentions the quirkiness and eccentricities of Hood and the protector elements of Rachel - these are so subtle they go mostly unnoticed.

Thanks Sharman and Dreamer for the images and thoughts straight from the top of Rufus' head. He's such a forthcoming person in an interview. I wonder if he's attempting to convey Jacob's quirkiness through the tentative speech and restricted range of movement of his body and face as though he's inhibited, too. But quirky can be loose and off the wall...I'd love to see more of that in his portrayal.

Lovely! Thanks for the screencaps, Dreamer, and for the podcast, Sharman.
So.......who in Canada is going to buy the 22 November issue of TV Week for the full interview, hmmmm?!

Thanks so much for the pics, and podcast. I too question the overdone makeup on the show. It's distracting. I thought it was awful in the first episode way too much. It looks a bit toned down now though. There was an episde I think it was called Agro, where he looked tanned and quite beautiful as always. Are they doing this because the show is filmed in HD? Is there a reason why they have to overcompensate? I do enjoy the show and like watching his reactions. It's been doing well in the ratings and I hope that it does get picked up for next season.
