Jacob and Rachel: should they.....?

Or is that just too predictable and clichéd and would just spoil their relationship (and the show)?

Ah, no is ahead at the moment. Good. I think it would be too predictable, too Hollywood, so typical to have the usual romance. Let's have an actual working relationship on a professional level, for a change. (At least for the first season! )

I'm with the "not yet" idea. I don't like it when it takes nearly the entire run of the show but I really like to see character relationships to have time to build. A few seasons of UST is more fun.

Hmmmm..... I thought voting would be a lot closer than this - "No" is way ahead as I write.

I suppose it could be interesting if it develops as unrequited attraction on the part of Rachel for Jacob, but I wouldn't want them to end up as lovers. And that's not even jealousy talking! I think it would spoil the dynamic of the show.

But then, I still wish the show hadn't started with them having an existing relationship - I would have liked it if they had met in that opening episode so they got to know each other as we got to know them. Jacob could have arrived first at the forensic tent, then Rachel could have turned up instead of the agent he was expecting. At least then we might have found out from the start quite what he did to make his previous handlers quit! It can't just be his distractedness - what were they, wimps??!

Ooops, sorry - I'm getting as picky and analytical as the posters on the IMDB board. I'll stop now. ;D

Okay I've resisted up until now, but what exactly would Rachel have to attract Jacob? I can see where they might go with it, but frankly it seems like they've got a LONG way before they get to a point where the characters even seem plausible as a romantic couple. Rachel has to crave the cerebral that is lacking in her life and Jacob has to crave the visceral that is lacking in his. Right now they seem content to rest in their opposing molds.

Don't get me wrong. I actually like them both quite a lot but I don't see any spark between them. Now being a fan of Rufus, my guess would be that he's playing dopey blind suffering scientist, but every now and then I see a twinkle in his eye that let's me know he's up to something. I'd like to see more of that. He's an attractive man and even if his intellect might put some women off, I'm sure there have been more than a few in Jacob's life. I thought the ep at the Uni was kind of fun with the coed geek girls falling for him and him not really noticing. It was very plausible.

However unless I see some attraction peeking out between them, it's difficult for me to understand...

That said, if something doesn't fire up between them it's going to be a very long and tedious series.

I liked that episode as well with both the college student asking Jacob if he wanted to use the internet connection in her room "for some privacy," and then the detective making a remark to Rachel about "not minding doing biology with him" or something like that. I thought that Rachel showed more amusement in these cases than jealousy, which is fine with me. I also voted no for the romance between Jacob and Rachel, at least for awhile.

I voted no as well, I think the romance just gets in the way. A little sexual tension is a good thing. It's far too early in the show for them to be romantically linked. I will say one thing, I am enjoying the show, but I'm a little worried that the writers and directors are not using Rufus to his full potential. I want him to be more human and a lot less robotic. I don't believe they know how truly talented he is.

Oh Lordy...I'm one of only three that voted yes...But then again I am still stressed about the Grissom/Sara dynamic over at CSI...

I guess I picked yes because I'm a little bit of a pessimist, I just want to see something happen between them before the suits at CBS pull the chord...they seem to like doing that to shows that are actually intelligent...*coughwomensmurderclubcough*...But I digress...

I actually think Rachel and Jacob have a ton of chemistry...I re-watched "Containment" the other night just to be happy before I went to sleep...Maybe it years of looking for the tiniest clues but it just seems like there may be more than coworker on their minds when they think of each other. If the show does last though beyond the first season and the impending actors strike...I think they need to drag it out a bit...just hope it's not like JAG...

Anyway...sorry for rambling...I'm new...so ya know..

i guess we could have a vote about THAT. "do you think EH will see its second season"...
at this point - just a few eps remaining - it would be quite a shock if, out of nowhere,they would just reach for each other... smack... and then go on with their business.
not necessarily romance yet... just, you know... a healthy romp once in a while... and poor felix left in the dark.
