My local public tv station in NY just aired Cyrano with Kevin Kline, was playing the same time as R&R, parents went to that, sister and I to R&R for the 2d time, truly a memorable evening and beter the third time, anyway i stray. Does anyone know if any perf. of R&R was ever taped?
(Cyrano was awful to say the least, gave it a shot but impossible and painful to watch. I blame the director. Parents hated it too!)

(I bet Rai's answering this at the same time!) Yes, it was taped, but only for archive purposes. There's a discussion about this somewhere on one of the R&R threads, if you can find it.

I was looking through the posts, I wonder how it's decided what they choose to air. Too bad this wasn't picked up. When you mean archive does that mean for theatre insiders only, and for their viewing only?

Not even that, I don't think - literally an archive for preservation purposes, so academics only. In years to come, when Rufus is a seven-time Oscar winner, someone will stumble upon it and show it to the world! (Or....we find out where it is and steal the master copy/hack the computer......??)

If you're ever in London or NYC, you can view the tape at respectively the Victoria & Albert Museum's Theatre Archives or at the NY Public Library of the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Just tell them you're researcher (you don't really have to prove it) and they'll let you watch it there. No taking it home and copying, I'm afraid
