I'm curious why R'n'R is closing. Looking at Playbill, its grossing 445,000 per week, approximately, with 77% seats filled. There are only 7 or 8 plays filling more seats . Any scoop on that?

Maybe because Rufus and the others don't want to continue after that, and the tickets won't sell with a new cast? Takings dropped in London when he left, I believe. ADDED: Poor Rufus apparently fluffed a line last night. From the Broadway World message-board: Posted On: 1/11/08 at 12:54 AM I saw Rock-N-Roll this evening and in the middle of the first act Rufus Sewell apparently blanked out. After a long pause he called for his line and turned to the audience and said "do you mind if we start this over?".
Besides being shocked that this happened, it was really a shame. My friend and I were unable to really focus on anything else during the performance. www.broadwayworld.com/board/readmessage.cfm?thread=954172&dt=8&boardid=1Aarrrgghh!!

ahhh, poor Ruf, well it happens to the best of them.
I do think the person quoted was overreacting. If they couldn't get past a glitch in the first act then that doesn't say very much for their own powers of concentration, now does it?

I finally have seen Rock’n’Roll! I was afraid after flying up on that Saturday morning in November and finding the theaters closed by the strike that I would never get the chance, but my DH and I flew to New York on Wednesday for the afternoon performance, and this time we made it! What can I say that hasn’t already been said? It was fabulous! Rufus as Jan was so intense at times, diffident and insecure at others, always very endearing. Sinead Cusack was wonderful as Eleanor/Esme, I thought, and Alice played the role of petulant teenager to perfection. I enjoyed every minute of the performance! And the icing on the cake was that, yes, I did get to meet Rufus!!! He is, as everyone has said, so kind and courteous, with a way of making you feel he is interested in speaking with you. It was before the performance and I didn’t want to delay him as I knew he must surely be in a hurry, but you’d never have known it from his manner. I do have a couple of pictures to share. In the first one Rufus’s attention was distracted and he looked away. True to form, he offered to pose for another photograph when he realized what he’d done. What a nice guy!

I believe! Those fairy tales that were read to me all those years ago were true!! There really is a Prince Charming, and you have the pictures to prove it! What a delightful man.

Yes, he is! Speaking of Rufus as Prince Charming, wouldn't you love to be his Cinderella!!! (That is the right fairy tale, isn't it, Prince Charming and Cinderella? You know what I mean, anyway!)

They are indeed fab pics - thanks for posting them, 7Sis!
Although, folks (and she'll kill me for this), our lucky Rufarian hasn't even mentioned that Rufus had his arm around her - TWICE!!

Although, folks (and she'll kill me for this), our lucky Rufarian hasn't even mentioned that Rufus had his arm around her - TWICE!! *GE2 hides before 7Sis can get her* You're lucky my transatlantic aim is so terrible, GE2! ;D But, yes, I was thrilled to have Rufus's arm around me twice! Although from what I've seen of other pictures, that's just a nice little thing he does for all his fans. Still, it doesn't prevent me from floating on Cloud 9!
