You're so right rufluvr...life is too short to miss out on the things that matter to us. LOL...my kids give me the same grieves as yours. They think I"m too old to be lusting after talented actors. Someday, someday I tell ya, I'll make fun of them for the same for sure. Fortunately, as my daughter gets older, she starts to like the same type of men and music as I do. Hahhahaha...karma baby. My son, he's just being protective and doesn't like to see his mother lusting after anyone. He doesn't mind really, he just shakes his head. I sure don't make fun of his half nekkid girlie computer wallpaper. LOL.
Greeneyes...I like to go with a friend..someone to hang out with and spend a long weekend in NY. Not necessarily go see the play with me. I can go to that by myself. I go to movies alone a lot. I like it that way. I used to travel a great deal for my last job and flying is not my favorite thing. I have friends who love NY and probably would go with me if I ask them to. I haven't seen ground zero yet. I'd like to. I also have friends in NY that I can call and have dinner with. I really don't have a reason not to go.

I actually like New Year's Eve in midtown, crazy though that might sound. I loved living in Manhattan in the 90s and would have stayed if it had been possible but Barry's company said go to Florida, so we went. NYC is a great place to live. Ginny

Agreed about NYC being a great place to live. I've been trying to get back since I left it. Midtown on NY Eve... you can have it. I'd much prefer a nice quiet party with and hand grenades... ;D

I'd much prefer a nice quiet party with and hand grenades... ;D Hand grenades? (*steps slowly away from Maxx*) So here's a serious question for experienced Bway goers, do you think going to a matinees are a bad idea, are the actors a bit groggier than they are on a day when they just do an evening show? I have heard you don't want to go see an evening show after a matinee has been done that day, as they actors have a tendency (with reason) to be a bit spent.

I have heard you don't want to go see an evening show after a matinee has been done that day, as they actors have a tendency (with reason) to be a bit spent. well normally I'd say skip the matinee just because they usually are a bit mushy and the audiences are typically "the theatre ladies" who don't see much theatre but go to say they have been. However when I saw R'n'R in London both at an evening performance and a matinee Rufus was on fire at the Sunday matinee. It was as close to perfect timing-wise and pacing-wise as I have ever seen a show and there was a joy in the work that was missing from the nighttime performance I had seen. So what's the point? Can't tell you beyond the fact that I don't think London audiences are NY audiences in the matinee vs evening respect. And the show can be wonderful no matter when you see it. I still think I'd skip Wednesday or Saturday evening. It's a long and grueling show, at least for Rufus. The matinee has to take something out of him even under the best of circumstances. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

That's what I suspected. I will most likely be arriving mid-week (cheaper) so I'll definitely skip Wednesday. Although not sure I'm patient enough to wait for Sunday if I arrive in NYC on a Tuesday or Wednesday.

Here is the schedule of when the tickets will become available for anyone who might fall into one of these catagories: Between August 8 and August 14, tickets are only available to American Express Cardholders. Gold Cardholders show visit www.broadwayoffers.com for Gold Card Priority Seating. Beginning August 15, tickets will be available to Lincoln Center Members by visiting www.lct.org. Gold Card Priority Seating will still be available. Only premium seating will be available to other American Express Cardholders. Beginning August 29, tickets will go on sale to the general public. relax. there are tons of great seats right now even for the early shows. if you book for after the first of the year you'll get exactly what you're looking for. Remember, everyone who isn't familiar with buying tickets in NY, this is Broadway. If there is a demand they will extend the run. IT IS NOT a concert and when it's sold out, it's sold out. There will be many tickets available later in the run if you can't get what you want now

Sorry, Maxx, I think you're wrong on that point. Some of us have children and it's far easier to go to a matinee than have to line up a pricey babysitter for the evening that won't get the baby to go to sleep anyway. During the day, I can always find a friend or relative to babysit. As for the actors, I've seen both matinee and evening performances and although nighttime performances tend to be more fun as an audience member, I don't think it's fair to classify the actors as being "mushy" in the daytime. It can happen, but I think actors are by and large professional enough to give their best effort at all the perfromances.
(Puts soapbox away).
