I agree. That was sort of the whole premise at the beginning, that she was his bodyguard and even had to go so far as to check out his hotel room (mind out of gutter, mind out of gutter), while he did all the thinking. They seem to have dropped that idea completely and made it more like they work as a team to solve the mysteries. I'm actually ok with that change, because, much as I like depictions of strong women, and as often as I tell my daughter she can do anything, the size discrepany just looked ridiculous. A good marksman could just aim over her head or around her tiny frame and hit him. Also, it gives her the chance to make contributions of a more intellectual and law enforcement professional nature, which is preferable to me.
Also, you're right about the "nemesis" idea. Too soon! Save those promos for the 3rd season.

Regarding Hood's safety, the idea I had is that he needs a handler because he is essentially clueless about the practicalities of life and might heedlessly get himself into a dangerous situation, and he is far too valuable for the FBI to risk that. Also, I suppose thwarting the money-making plans of evil corporations could earn him some enemies. And perhaps the associates of those dirty bomb terrorists will now be out to get him. I agree that 'nemesis' way over-states the stature of Gepetto. 'The one that got away' would be more apropos.
I re-watched the pesticide episode last night. Rufus was so gorgeous in that, they had alot of lingering shots and his hair was looser and down on his forehead. I wonder if they have deliberately tried to tone down his gorgeousness with hair changes and less obvious camera lingering because it was upstaging everything else?

I think that was supposed to be the original plan for the character, but I don't think they've necessarily developed it that way (whether by intent or not--I don't give the writers a lot of credit for planning ahead, although they've improved a lot lately). In the first couple of episodes, they had him kind of barging around cluelessly, like into the pesticide company in Agro, but in most of the later episodes he's seemed more calculating (like his statement "Sometimes you can think your way out of a situation" in the H20 episode). Actually, the only thing he seems to still be sort of clueless about is personal interactions (such as not noticing Rachel in her hot "man's shirt outfit" when he went to her apt).
If they're trying to tone down his gorgeousness, they're failing miserably!

yes... he seems quite harmless to me, as you say... Hood is downright adorable and brilliant- great combo! On the other hand, I have a genius microbiologist friend who matches that description, but he just doesn't have the looks Ru has. Mmmmmm.... Hood: Brains and beauty and so adorable that I wanna just snuggle with him.... while drooling over Rufus's sexy hotness. Tipou... Yep we all seem to "have it" here in a big way. I am not alone, I know! ;D I just hope I don't become like I swore I wouldn't- the type, who if having the chance to meet him, drools, faints, etc. LOL.... Nah- I'd keep my cool. ~crosses fingers for luck just incase I need it some day~

This schoolgirl behavior is kind of embarrassing to me, if I think about it too deeply, . It leads me to believe that I would just like a moron if presented with the man in person.

So then, Rueful, let's not think about it too deeply then!

An excellent suggestion, vittoria. Shallow thinking is usually preferable in this place!

Of course that will only work if we don't ponder too deeply about being shallow. ;D

who cares about being shallow or not? i just hope i would have the nerve to smack a big kiss on this cheekbone. perhaps ask him permission first. that would be very reasonable of me. other wishes i would have to keep for myself, since they would constitute ground for police arrest. shallow? come on!!! look at the guy!!!! how can you not sigh and and faint?

I can't believe there will be another week of these kinds of dangerous posts until we get a new episode! LOL! Oh my.... Whatever shall we do? I ended up watching "Surge" twice tonight. Could have watched it three times if I wanted to due to my digi cable... Finally, I saw the trailer for the new one. I'm really looking forward to it... I wonder how many times I'll watch that one! Man o man do I have it bad! Oh, would I ever love to actually get to know him. The more I find out about him as well as watch his material, the more fascinated I become. He seems to be a very interesting person. ~imagining what Thursday nights would be like if I did~ Yep, I can just picture my friend watching her husband's show on the appropriate night and me watching Rufus' show and her and I going on about both shows.. Meanwhile, her husband won't watch his own show while she has past episodes on dvd besides watching every week.... I wonder if Rufus ever watches his.

Has anyone else noticed Rufus' pronunciation of words like 'ordinary' and 'dietary' (there was a third such example that I can't recall).
I pronounce 'ordinary' as ordinerry, and 'dietary' as 'dieterry' while Hood says 'ordinrie', and 'dietrie', which I think of as the British pronunciation. So I wondered if it is something they aren't catching, or something they're doing because that pronunciation is also regarded as an acceptable American one.

Meanwhile, her husband won't watch his own show while she has past episodes on dvd besides watching every week.... I wonder if Rufus ever watches his. Somehow, I doubt it. He has said before that he doesn't get analytical when he's preparing a characterisation, and he strikes me as the sort of actor who does things instinctively at the point he's performing, and then after that what's done is done. He probably wouldn't get anything out of reviewing his performance - but that's not to say he doesn't appreciate feedback from others. Just my opinion. (PS - I can't believe we're on page 3 of the thread for an episode that hasn't even aired yet! )
