I know this is jumping ahead a bit but I read the description on tvguide.com and thought I'd share. To paraphrase, Hood suspects a recent rash in stem-cell thefts is part of a cloning project linked to his "arch nemesis" Gephetto. It seems they're tying the plots of both the premiere and "Eternal" together. Given the improvement in the writing in the last three episodes, I'm hopeful this episode won't also carry over the problems from the premiere. I could definitely see how they can link the doctor from "Eternal" to Gephetto since it's plausible she may have contacted him with a proposition to use the stem cells. We've already seen that he cares more about money than ethics and we know that on the show and in real-life, there are people out there with more money than morals so there'd be a small but wealthy market interested in cloning loved ones, just like the father in the premiere.

ohhh that is much too far ahead, grrrr this is good if they start building some kind of continuity à la x-files although we are very far here from the x-files in terms of writing tooooo bad

Speaking of continuity, what happened with that possible love interest/date? I wish they would put more about Dr. Hood's personal life in the episodes. Every episode he mentions the death of his wife but not really going into mich on it. "I've lost someone very close to me too" type of thing and ya know, nothing really meaty to it. Dya'll know what I'm trying to say?

oh, believe me, i do. there could be a lot of meat to add to both those characters. right now, it still feels like the series has just started, in terms of our knowledge of j & r.

It seems to be typical of Bruchheimer's shows. Look at Grissom on "CSI". He was on the show nine years and we hardly knew anything about him by the time he left. We didn't even get to see his home until this past season. I think the intention is for the show to concentrate on the cases rather than the personal lives of the characters. Since EH is a two-character show and not a multi-character ensemble and the stories only involve one case per episode rather than the two, sometimes three, cases that are the norm on the "CSI" shows, it would allow for more personal character development. Maybe now that they've established the "case" aspect of the show, it'll start to explore the characters' personal lives. One thing that intrigued me was the scene from "Titans" where Rachel tells Hood her dad wanted a boy to carry on in his "legendary FBI footsteps" and instead he got her. Obviously, there's some issues between them and I'm hoping that scene will be a jumping off point to bring in her dad to explore that.

How come there's no new episode this week? Is there some big event in the US this Thursday?

Is it the Grammy's? Or have they already aired. I noticed that too. I think whatever relationship comes out of this with Jacob and Rachel it should be firmly placed on the back burner for now. Romance either slows the pace or kills the show. Way too early for a romance, sexual tension is fine, gives us all a little something to look forward to.

As far as I know, nothing special this Thursday, they're just showing a repeat.

My local station didn't show an upcoming episode. I'll have to check the listings.

I'm not sure I trust these writers to successfully weave a long arc. I'd be pleased if they managed to maintain the recent improvements.

I think the improvements we've seen in the past three weeks has shown some promise. If you look at the very first episode and watch in sequential order the differences are slight but quite noticable towards the last few. Less makeup, pacing has picked up considerably and the stiffness in each charachter has toned down a bit. They both seem so natural now. I really noticed it in the "Savant" episode. They were responding as reall people would. The interraction was more realistic than it had been up to that point. H20 was a really good episode too. They seem more human now. A concurring arc might not be such a bad thing.

I trust both actors to be able to pull off such a thing, and I have enjoyed the last few episodes way more than the early ones. But although I really loved the character interactions of Eternal, I thought the plot was pretty weak, and that reflects the writing, which is hit or miss to me. So I'm not optimistic, but I guess it's a good thing for them to try to stretch a bit and give the outstanding actor they hired a chance to show what he can do. I want the show to be picked up next year, so maybe a continuing storyline is a way to get viewers hooked so that they come back for more.

I wonder if they've asked him for any input. I'm sure they have but I do wish the writing were stronger, it's shown promise but like you I feel this is a weak point in the series, and yes I am hoping it will be picked up for next season.

I hope they do ask him. When you read or watch his interview, he seems so smart (which is one of the main things that draws me, seriously), and you'd think he'd have good ideas about the character. Maybe if we all keep our fingers crossed or whatever our personal good luck token is, the writing will keep improving and we'll get our wish.

We didn't even get to see his home until this past season. Hate to barge in here...but in the season 1 finale "Strip Strangler" we get to see the inside of his apartment, in "Burden of Proof" in season 2 we get to see his kitchen and dining room as he makes breakfast for Catherine, in season 7 "Fallen Idols" we get to see his bathroom as Sara shaves his beard off..(of course at that time, they were probably in a new place seeing as how they moved in together..) Sorry...I agree with the idea, I'm just a die-hard Grissom/Sara fan.... Carry on.
