No worries Peach. I was afraid of coming off like a Bi**h...I just get anal about Garth....I heart Garth...lol
I love songs that make you think, make you stand up and take notice, make you weep. This one sure does that for me.
Dear Mr. President - Pink
Dear Mr. President Come take a walk with me Let's pretend we're just two people and You're not better than me I'd like to ask you some questions if we can speak honestly
What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep What do you feel when you look in the mirror Are you proud
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye How do you walk with your head held high Can you even look me in the eye And tell me why
Dear Mr. President Were you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy Are you a lonely boy How can you say No child is left behind We're not dumb and we're not blind They're all sitting in your cells While you pave the road to hell
What kind of father would take his own daughter's rights away And what kind of father might hate his own daughter if she were gay I can only imagine what the first lady has to say You've come a long way from whiskey and cocaine
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye How do you walk with your head held high Can you even look me in the eye
Let me tell you bout hard work Minimum wage with a baby on the way Let me tell you bout hard work Rebuilding your house after the bombs took them away Let me tell you bout hard work Building a bed out of a cardboard box Let me tell you bout hard work Hard work Hard work You don't know nothin bout hard work Hard work Hard work Ohhh
How do you sleep at night How do you walk with your head held high Dear Mr. President You'd never take a walk with me would u

I thought I'd share one of my favorite Weird Al songs to come out in recent years. Most of you have probably heard the James Blunt song "You're Beautiful". Al did a parody called "You're Pitiful", complete with the "false start" at the beginning of the song. Unfortunately, although Blunt gave him permission to release the song, Blunt's record company Atlantic Records, contacted Al and told him they didn't want him to release it. Although legally there was nothing Atlantic could do since the original artist had given permission for the parody, Al was forced by his own record company to leave the song off his newest cd. So Al decided if he couldn't put it on the cd, he'd just make the song, which he'd already recorded, available as a free download through his website. The song has become one of his most popular since then and was included in the lastest concert tour, with Al parodying the video in the performance. In the video, Blunt strips down from a hoodie sweatshirt to his skivvies. In concert Al strips down from the hoodie through various tshirts, including one that says "Atlantic Records Sucks!" until he's clad in a Spongebob shirt, pink tutu, heart boxers, and black fishnet stockings! I took quite a few pictures of that particular musical number when I saw him in concert last summer!
So here are the lyrics to "You're Pitiful". If you want to hear the song, go to weirdal.com and scroll down the homepage; there's a link there to listen to it. I'd post the link, but I'm not sure how, sorry. The wording for the "false start" isn't exact but you get the idea.
My life is brilliant...(What? Was I early? Oh...sorry. oK now? Now? ok...)
My life is brilliant You're life's a joke You're so pathetic You're always broke You're homemade "Star Trek" uniform Really ain't impressin' me You're suffering from delusions of adequacy
You're pitiful You're pitiful You're pitiful, it's true Never had a date That you couldn't inflate And you smell repulsive too What a bummer being you
Well you just can't dance And forget romance Everbody you know still calls you "farty pants" But you'll always have a job well I mean As long as you can still work that Slurpee machine
You're pitiful You're pitiful You're pitiful, it's true You're half undressed Eating chips off your chest While your playing Halo 2 No ones classier than you
La la la la La la la la La la la la loser
You're pitiful You're pitiful You're pitiful. it's true You're dog would much rather Play fetch by itself You still live with your mom and you're 42 Guess you'll never grow a clue Well it just sucks to be you

ambra, since you are the resident weird al expert - i did not know he was still around - i wonder if you know whether al is responsible for the spoof "it's too late to order fries" i heard, a turn of course on one republic/timbaland's hit song "it's too late to apologize"

I've mentioned on other threads how much I love the music of Jim Croce. I'd die a happy woman if a man loved me enough to write lyrics like those for Time in a Bottle: If I could save time in a bottle, The first thing that I'd like to do Is to save every day 'Til eternity passes away, Just to spend them with you. If I could make days last forever, If words could make wishes come true, I'd save every day like a treasure and then, Again, I would spend them with you. Chorus: But there never seems to be enough time To do the things you want to do Once you find them I've looked around enough to know That you're the one I want to go Through time with. If I had a box just for wishes And dreams that had never come true, The box would be empty Except for the memory Of how they were answered by you... (Repeat Chorus)That last verse alone...... www.imeem.com/people/i2jerYO/music/BkCYl3Bs/jim-croce-time-in-a-bottle/And how's this for an apology (from Tomorrow's Gonna Be a Brighter Day)? Well, I'm sorry for the things that I told you But words only go so far And if I had my way, I would reach into heaven And I'd pull you down a star, for a present And I'd make you a chain out of diamonds And pearls from a summer sea, But all I can give you is a kiss in the morning And a sweet apology.

His newest one is a parody of a rap song by TI called "Whatever You Like" also called "Whatever You Like". TI's version is a guy with lots of money telling his girl what he's going to give her and Al's is a guy on a much tighter budget doing the same. He likes to keep his material PG-13, not because he has anything against more adult comedy but because he's always had fans in a wide range of ages and he wants to keep that. The concerts I've been to have had kids there around three or four years old on up to senior citizens and everyone is having a great time. Unfortunately, there are people who do more R and even X-rated material and they try to pass it off as his to get the attention.

How Can I Tell You? Cat Stevens
How can I tell you that I love you,I love you,I love you But I can't think of right words to say I long to tell you that I'm always thinking of you, always thinking of you But my words just float away It always ends up with one thing honey and I can't think of right words to say
Wherever I am,I'm always walking with you, always walking with you But I look and you're not there Whoever I'm with,I'm always talking with you,I'm always talking with you And I'm sad that you can't hear
I need to know you, need to feel my arms around you, feel my arms around you, like sea around a shore Each night and day I pray and hope that I might find you, because hearts can do no more It always ends up with one thing honey as I kneel upon the floor
How can I tell you that I love you, when I can't think of right words to say I long to tell you that I'm always thinking of you, always thinking of you.
Wonderful! Most of the music I listen to is played in the dark, just a couple of candles and lots of tears.

Hey Green, your song reminds me of my favorite Diamond Rio songs...
"One More Day"
Last night I had a crazy dream A wish was granted just for me It could be for anything I didn’t ask for money Or a mansion in Malibu I simply wished, for one more day with you
One more day, one more time One more sunset, maybe I’d be satisfied But then again I know what it would do Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you
First thing I’d do, is pray for time to crawl Then I’d unplug the telephone and keep the TV off I’d hold you every second, say a million I love you’s That’s what I’d do, with one more day with you
One more day, one more time One more sunset, maybe I’d be satisfied But then again I know what it would do Leave me wishing still, for one more day with you
Leave me wishing still, for one more day Leave me wishing still, for one more day

Time in a Bottle still haunts me to this day. Such a beautiful song. Another Cat song that I like a whole lot is the following.....Moonshadow............still a goodie...
Moon Shadow Cat Stevens
I'm being followed by a moon shadow moon shadow-moon shadow leaping and hopping on a moon shadow moon shadow-moon shadow and if I ever lose my hands lose my plough, lose my land oh, if I ever lose my hands oh, if... I won’t have to work no more and if I ever lose my eyes If my colours all run dry yes, if I ever lose my eyes oh if … I won't have to cry no more. yes, I'm being followed by a moon shadow moon shadow - moon shadow leaping and hopping on a moon shadow moon shadow - moon shadow and if I ever lose my legs I won't moan and I won't beg of (oh)* if I ever lose my legs oh if... I won't have to walk no more And if I ever lose my mouth all my teeth, north and south yes, if I ever lose my mouth oh if... I won't have to talk... Did it take long to find me I ask the faithful light Ooh did it take long to find me And are you going to stay the night I'm being followed by a moon shadow moon shadow - moon shadow leaping and hopping on a moon shadow moon shadow - moon shadow moon shadow - moon shadow moon shadow - moon shadow

I've been a rabid Floyd fan since jr. high school and still love their music, this is one of my faves, although it's really hard to pin one down since their all good.
Wish You Were Here So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, Blue skys from pain. Can you tell a green field From a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell?
And did they get you to trade Your heros for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? And did you exchange A walk on part in the war For a lead role in a cage?
How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
