Rufus on the radio 25 September!!!

Well, I am finally able to add to the discussion of Ruf's radio interview.
First, thanks to all of you who made it possible to post the link here so that all of us may hear it. I agree with so many of you... what a sexy voice he has !!!
I do hope that Rufus does not have serious aversion to CBS and/or American TV. Many of us may have been very sad to hear that EH was canceled. But Rufus seems to have wanted to go on to something else. Perhaps CBS was very aware of his desire to do so. Therefore, renewing EH for a second season was not an option. I know that this may sound crazy to many of you in the UK and Europe but I feel that CBS took a big chance in choosing Rufus in the EH. Don't get me wrong. I think he played the part of Dr. Hood with perfection. It was through EH that I first saw Rufus perform. I am a forever fan as a result. Here in the US he is not that well known. When I told our friends and various acquaintances about him in EH and how great he was, they did not recognize his name. Then I mentioned some of the movies he was in; Zorro, Illusionist, Tristan and Isolde, Amazing Grace. And they would say, "Oh, that guy. You mean that's him? I didn't recognize him". I believe that Rufus needs more "exposure" here in the US. Just a starring role one great movie is all that he needs. Yes, I know that he is not looking for fame and/or awards. But I do think that the recognition would bring him the respect he so deserves and more opportunities to perform in the venues in which he will be artistically fulfilled. Rufus live on stage in the theater... oh, yes !!!!! But not that many people can afford to travel to England or New York to see him perform. Or maybe their family responsibilities do not permit them to travel as such. Millions of possible fans-forever can see him in the movies in just one weekend !!
From what he did say in the interview his next project will be on stage. Now, RAI, please let us know as soon as possible about this.... PLEASE..... like where, when, etc., etc. My sister and I need to make travel plans. We may have to get paperwork started to get a second mortgage on our house, sell one of our kidneys ? No. no, no. I'm not that crazy or obsessed !!!! I must admit that while listening to Ruf's voice in that interview made me feel like I had taken a super-duper extra strength estrogen tablet. Sorry I went on for long. I just wanted to include my opinions and thoughts.

To be honest he is not that well known in England. The same applies here as you have said about people saying "Who?" then you list a couple of movies and they say "Oh yeah I know who you mean"

But I have noticed since TOTS more people are saying "Oh yeah Rufus Sewell he was in that shakespeare retold"

I can't wait to see him on stage again, have seen him on stage twice and both times he was fantastic. He blew the audience away

I cannot believe what you have written re Rufus not being well known in the UK Perhaps the people you spoke to are only interested in TV. If you speak to people who are interested in Theatre or Film , they know exactly who he is and have known about him for a long time .Look at the tremendous amount of work he has done and awards won since his early twenties.. But he's not a household name in the way that, say, Jude Law is, though, Frannie - those who are into films and theatre know him and he is highly respected in the industry, but I agree with Dippy in that if you stopped the average person on the street, they probably would say "who?" until you said "He was in...."

I suspect he quite likes that kind of anonymity - it must certainly make it easier for him to get around without being mobbed, and it does make him much more accessible to us as fans.

You only have to see the photos of Jude Law being mobbed after Hamlet every night - I can't imagine any of his fans being able to go up and chat with him the way Manuela (and others in the past, me included) did with Rufus the other night.

I've always said that I like it that he's "our little secret"!

Being almost the only fan in Italy makes me feel proud and hopeful I can meet him some day!

I agree that he is known among the theatre goers most of my friends do know of him and have seen him on stage at some point but others not so much. He is fantastic on stage who wouldn't know him, once seen never forgotten.

Thank God , you ARE all still out there .After almost 4 days with virtually no posts , I thought you all had died and gone to RS heaven . SORRY ,DIPPY, to use you as a stirring stick , but couldn't work out any other way to wake everyone up again .yes ,of course I agree with all of you and yes Glo I agree too,as I am only Welsh fan, it is lovely to have our "Secret" Please don't bawl me out GE2 but i had to do something!!!!!

Cbs is managed by a bunch asses period. I think Rufus aversion is to stupidity and many of the scripts were just that. He did yeoman's work in that role. I think he is above all an actor and if there is a script he likes that sparks his interest he will do it. I hope the theatre role is a comedy. And if it is not it is at least a play that has characters people can care about. The way to get people to remember your name is to begin to play roles that people remember and want to remember. Forgive me for repeating myself. He is really a gifted actor but he needs to be more conscious of the parts he takes if his goal is to get into film in a way that is sustainable. I would never suggest that he take roles in films that are just plain stupid and Lord knows we have many but he needs to look at a part and the story and begin to ask can this be told in a way that lets the audience in. That said I am green with envy that UK will get to enjoy him.

Frannie, we've been here all the time - and there have been loads of posts! Not only on this thread, but all over the forum!! ;D (Especially after all the excitement of last Friday's events)

Can I ask what page you enter the site on? You said before that you've had trouble finding threads (e.g the Cap-Its) but all the sections of the site are set out on the home-page. And yes, I have now caught up with everyone else and listened to dear Rufus on Simon Mayo. A lovely interview that portrays how intelligent and articulate Rufus is. It was a great pleasure to listen to. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY hope that his stage project is true and in the UK somewhere so I can see him. Good luck Rufus with your little secret!!

Hi everyone!
I'm new here, so I just got to this thread today!
I wouldn't have even been aware of the interview had I not come to this forum, so thank you for posting the link! I am so pleased that I was able to hear it before it is removed!
The sound quality was perfect! I just closed my eyes and listened to that unique voice of his!
Oh, and I am still giggling about the "Downloading Nancy on ice" comment Rufus made...
