Maybe this is a stupid question but why would he have deleted his twitter account unless he was getting tweets he didn't want? Can you actually tweet him back? I don't know enough about twitter.
Why do I feel guilty about this and I don't even have a twitter account?

Well, crap. I noticed that this morning, too. I wonder which of his 67 followers sent him the stalker Tweet(s).
(Not me! I never sent him any! And yes, wichi, you can send someone a direct message, or you can just include their Twitter name preceded by the @ symbol in your Tweet.)

Well that's a bit sad isn't it Obviously, we have no idea why he deleted it (unless it never was really him and the imposter got found out). We don't know for sure there were stalker tweets because really, there's no personal info or anything on twitter - just your 140 character comments!!! And if somone is pissing you off you can block and/or report them. So many celebs tweet you would think that it would be more of an issue. We'll never really know i guess. Oh well, we'll just have to tweet each other instead now we've signed up!!

Well, maybe he didn't want to be outed, and if that's the case, I'm sorry.

You can't actually "DM" (send a private, direct message) anyone if that person doesn't "follow" you. So in Rufus' case, who didn't follow anyone, nobody could DM him. Of course, anyone on twitter could "@reply" him (send him a public message tagged with his username), whether you follow him or not, as long as you have a twitter account.

Don't worry, rueful. If he didn't want to be outed, he wouldn't have put his real name on the account where anyone could have found him with a basic search! And even that funny picture was recognizable (barely) as him. Thanks for the clarification on direct messages, uke! I was confused, too!

Maybe he was multi-taking this morning and accidently hit the "delete account" key while shaving. He then cursed himself for being such a klutz and put a post-it note on his pc to remind himself to start up a new account. All this before heading off to the photographer's studio to have some new pics taken for his devoted fangirls! (a girl can dream, right? )

If we're all going to claim responsiblity for Rufus's "de-Twittering", I'll take credit too! Just yesterday I Tweeted this link to a Dilbert cartoon. twitpic.com/qrff8I'll bet Rufus was browsing through the Tweets of his followers and saw that cartoon and realized how silly Twitter really can be and decided he wanted no part of it. There. It's all my fault.

I would take credit for running him off but I could barely get through the sign up part much less send him a tweet or a message. The only reason I signed up for Twitter was for a Sephora promotion.Oh well, maybe he just likes being mysterious.

Thanks judy (and everyone who jumped in to help take credit). Maybe he'll change his mind and try again sometime. So is everyone here doing Twitter now? Please don't say anything good. I hate to miss anything, and I just can't take on a new technology again.
