I'm actually Twittering now (a bit), but I still pretty much follow interesting Twitterers. My favorites are Stephen Fry (now that he's stopped going on about darts!) and Sockington and Sockelganger (a cat and a kitten who looks just like him). Oh and Simon Pegg, the actor. I also just started following BigBen, whose tweets consists of "BONG, BONG, BONG" (however many are appropriate each hour).

Well, as long as you're not saying anything Rufus-related that I'll miss--I want to hear everybody's rufus insights I hope you don't mind me saying this, and it's said with the utmost concern for your well being, but you've gone over the edge now, judy.

I feel sick with disappointment every time I tweet and he is not there. I think he just likes his privacy .When I first tweeted him ( I think his 2nd )the numbers following him were shooting up. still I can relieve my feelings about other things on there ...sometimes quite mad but that's me!!!Good to keep in touch with the girls another way besides on the board

I had a feeling he would stop po sting when he realized he was being followed. I really get the impression he likes his privacy. And of course I have to ask did he ever answer anyone's tweet.

Boy, did I miss that short-lived twitter ride w/Rufus, ha ha! That's what one gets for not keeping up with the board. So, what do people who change thier mind about easy-access twitter do? Just open a private one under an assumed name and just pass it to close friends? I haven't read/opened a twitter account yet so I don't know these things. I'll bet a fair number of people start twittering and then think, hmm, I don't want to feel even the slightest bit obligated to keep up with this now all these friends of mine and so many other people are following...this really isn't so fun, so @%*# it and forget it--I'm stopping. Isn't it hard enough just to keep up with snail mail, voice mail, texting and e-mail?? Some people spend so much time keeping up with electro-correspondence it must become an issue in their significant other relationships (and jobs too, one supposes) Now, I'm not saying I wouldn't want to read someone's blog or twitter who's incredibly interesting or witty!! (In fact know of any?? Ha) But there has got to be a limit, right?

why on earth would anyone go on twitter if they want their privacy? i would think that if you cant limit followers to friends and family, as on facebook, then you are pretty much inviting a large audience to check on your page.

you can have it set up so that people have to REQUEST to follow you before they can even see your tweets...helps weed out the porn stars and freaks.

As DGD said, you can set up a "locked" twitter page so people have to request to follow you and see your tweets. Really though, i see twitter as being a lot different from facebook/myspace as there isn't any personal information other than what you want to say in your 140 character long tweets. I think that's why quite a lot of celebs use it as a way to communicate with fans. And if you are having trouble with any follower being rude or intrusive, you can just block them. It really seems harmless to me - you can say as much or as little as you like!!!
From our POV, at least we can still kind of "follow" Rufus by doing a search of his name in other people's tweets. I liked this one (lucky girl!!!) - "Talking to a friend of mine, turned around and got a faceful of Rufus Sewell's chest. Will be blissing out on that for WEEKS." then "Just now, when he walked past, he said he'd see me later. I'm pretty sure we're engaged now" She's in LA so at least we know where he is at the moment!!! ;D

Thanks for that reminder, numbat. The tweet I liked was from a day or so ago from a woman in LA who apparently spotted Rufus in Target (a big discount store chain). I guess he's in his frugal unemployment mode!

Hahaha, yes i saw that one too - should we start speculating on what he might have been buying? Hopefully a new unemployment t-shirt (coz if i see new photos of him in that old maroon one i will send him a new one myself!!!) A classic white one would be nice!!!
