Hello Ladies........ I sent an email to Wigmore Hall asking if the July 18th performance of "Nocturne" may be filmed and sold on DVD. Here is the answer sent back to me :
Dear Diane, Thank you for your enquiry. As I understand it, there are no plans to film this concert in July, but having said that, it might be in your interests to check again a little closer to the time. With best wishes, Helen Helen Peate General Manager - Wigmore Hall Live & International Song Competition Wigmore Hall 36 Wigmore Street London W1U 2BP

Maz, it is a Polish film (with subtitles) that in English translates to Chopin: Desire for Love. So, given that the performance theme is related to Chopin's romantic life, might be a fun and appropo film to see beforehand. Is just a so-so film, however. And saying it is so-so is treating it kindly (ha). If I knew a good biography on him, I'd recomend one. But I've never read any. Good for you learning piano. My daughter, who plays the tuba, is teaching herself to play piano too, with some "learn to play" books I have. I always wanted to learn (and may still take lessons one day) but all I ever did was sound out stuff like Beatles tunes and Christmas tunes etc. by ear...with one hand, ha ha. No Liberaces in this house! Well, I am sure we will send you off to the concert with much excitement when the date draws nearer, and the info is more solid.

I'm finding the piano so therapeutic ;D

Just checked out the Wigmore Hall site to see if there was any news and they now have Sam West listed as narrator: www.wigmore-hall.org.uk/whats-on/productions/lucy-parham-piano-25110So it looks like i'm not going to have to explain to Mr N why i need a $2,500 plane fare to the UK in July!! Shame............ maybe Rome instead then......................

I thought I'd update this link as it all got lost. (For the new members) Rufus didn't appear in Nocture in the end (due to filming commitment in Italy). I still went and there I met other fellow Rooftoppers, nell, lassie, and maz. They are lovely ladies (as I knew they would be) and as it turned out we were all sat together, nell was in front of me, maz next to me and lassie behind me. Sam West (Rufus' replacement) was very good and the music was fantastic. Sam West Parents, Timothy West and Prunella Scales, were there. It was, in all a good night.
