Hi Gang, Just got a message from Rufus regarding his exciting new project! He's so cute - wanted me to be the first to know but missed the release by a few minutes. www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010/feb/18/left-bank-aurelio-zen-rufus-sewellSo the details are there. He equated it to Ken Branagh's Wallander series, which is so well done. Needless to say, we're happy!!! Other irons & news in the fire that can't be divulged yet, but trust me they are all good. More stuff later. I'm at work. xxx Rai ;D

Yay, Rufus!!! "hot, passionate and Italian" works for me! 'Zen is handsome, humorous and romantic and Rufus Sewell is the perfect choice to play Didbin's delightful creation" Duh!! "BBC Worldwide, which owns a stake in Left Bank, will distribute it internationally with a view to securing a cinema release" Oh, you better BBC! Thanks, rai!

Excellent news!! I love Wallander - dark and moody - just like me these days ETA: although I see this series won't be "cool and Nordic" but "hot, passionate and Italian". I'll have to switch moods now.

Well, what a BRILLIANT end to my day!! Thanks for this wonderful news, Rai! It sounds fantastic. I've never been able to get into Wallander, but I know I'm going to LOVE this. More info here: The series will be based and shot in Rome and will feature many of the combined attractions of Italy and the Dibdin novels – thrilling investigations, fun, warmth and beautiful people. John Alexander will direct the opening film which will be one of Dibdin’s very best novels - Vendetta adapted by Simon Burke. ..... BBC Worldwide is brokering the international partnership deal and also looking to distribute the three films internationally on all platforms, including theatrically. Michael Dibdin lived in Italy for many years and had 11 Zen books published www.atvnewsnetwork.co.uk/today/index.php/atv-today/2288-bbcscotland-dramasand a nice new(?) pic from the BBC press office splurge: www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2010/02_february/18/zen.shtmlEleven books!!!! So if these first three are a success.......

This is very much the kind of project Rufus has been itching to do...I am so happy for him. And for us too, naturally--what FUN this will be to watch. Hope they are not too stingy with the "passion" bits, ha ha. He IS playing an Italian after all! Thank you as always for the update, Rai.

Thanks, Rai,
I actually saw this myself this am while I was searching Rufus on Twitter. It was posted there about 30 mins. before I received my google alerts. I don't know how to start a thread, so I had sent GE2 a PM, but you beat her to it !!!!
Such great news. He'll be just, well, yes ........ PERFECT !! We'll all have to keep watching for news of the timing of the episodes show times and channels.

LOL @ GE2! I thought exactly the same thing! Miss Dreamer is going to have a lot of responsibility on her shoulders - being the onsite representative of all the fangirls!

Rai Thank you for advancing us the notice. So happy Rufus wanted us to know. I guess sending him that card endeared us to him a little. The release says...
"It is being made by Left Bank Pictures for BBC1 through BBC Scotland, in association with Mediaset, Masterpiece on PBS and ZDF, with additional funding from the corporation's commercial arm, BBC Worldwide, Ingenious and Lipsync."
Masterpiece on PBS...I am shaking with joy. That means all us American gals will get to see them. I was hoping this would be a good year and now I am sure of it. Rufus in a good detective series I am so happy I could cry. Murder and mysteries are my favorite genres.
I actually screamed when I read it. Boy this has been a long winter! Thanks again
