I want to join Pitzel in the delirious with joy department. I was having a really miserable day. Now I am actually quite happy.

Check out this description of Aurelio Zen from Wikipedia: Erratic, emotional and all too human, Zen negotiates the constantly shifting political terrain of both his job and his country through the nineties and into the new century.
Aged late forties/early fifties and already somewhat jaded when we first meet him, he has had a longish career in the State Police and is relatively senior. Unafraid to employ radical and even decidedly underhand methods when he feels them appropriate, Zen struggles to manage the competing demands of his aged mother, his girlfriend and his job, sometimes accepting an assignment simply to escape from domestic pressures. Heart mostly in the right place, he does his best to make sense of whatever confronts him.Doesn't this sound like it's going to be another extraordinary role for Himself?!? Updated to add this link where you can really get a good idea of what we have to look forward to: lifeloom.com/I4MorasDibdenR.htm

I'm home from work now. Another bit about the Zen series - like Wallander, they won't be using accents, which is fine with me (and I'm sure most of you) as there's nothing like his real voice. Just like Branagh, who would sound silly using a Swedish accent, putting on an Italian accent could certainly be distracting!

Have been to the library and have Vendetta in my hot little paws!!! ;D Opening line: "Aurelio Zen lounged on the sofa like a listless god" - surely one of us must have written that and i like this: "Catching sight of his reflection in the large mirror above the fireplace, he paused, as though the person he saw there might hold the key to what was puzzling him. The prominent bones and slight tautness of the skin especially around the eyes, gave his face a slightly exotic air, probably due to Slav or even Semitic blood somewhere in the family's Venetian past." Glo, i can't imagine how excited you must be!! And yes, thanks Rai. Love your work

Hi Rufians, Emerging from the usual deep lurkdom to say "thank-you Rai" and YAHOO!! And let you know there is a BBC press release which you can read here: www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2010/02_february/18/zen.shtmlor here: www.rufussewell.net/article-zen_bbc_february2010.htmlThis latter link is to mention that I have put together a little site for Rufus, just so he has a "standard" one with current news. It mainly points to other sites, but I am slowly (really slowly!) putting up old articles and other stuff. It's been up for a couple of months, but is #100+ in a Google search since no one really knows about it. But now you do and I want to take the opportunity to say that I would never have done it without the existence of this board and all you excellent sleuthers and reporters. Thanks!! I am trying to give credit where credit is due, so let me know if I have stuff up which should be credited to you. Renata
