I was thinking about you after I saw that! But not while I watched it (possibly more than once), because I had to take in what little I could. Do you think the filmmakers think no one wants to see middle aged people naked? Because we certainly got a gratuitous eyeful of naked young women lying around William's quarry shack.

I fear that will be all the Tom-Ellen action we're going to get. Although I must say I enjoyed the goosing scene. (I'll bet the actress did too.)

The big problem with the cave scene was that it seemed to reinforce the idea that their relationship is just about sex. Since they've had so little time to show everyday moments between them, a little less animal lust, and a little more nudity , would have emphasized an emotional bond.

Reagan's makeup was very distracting to me in her scene with William. Are those supposed to be dark circles around her eyes? Because it looks like brown eyeshadow, which I wouldn't have really expected to see. And her lip gloss was sparkly. That was literally all I could think about during that scene, which is a shame, because you're right, she's doing a wonderful job creating a a horrible character.

Stephen's also turning out to be nicely unhinged. I've never seen that actor before, but he's really good. (I've been wondering if that's the original role they sent to Rufus.)

The 50 minutes of the episode flew by. It is really a gripping story, despite the shocking lack of naked masons.

I second the motion to award the costumer!!! Who would have thought they could make those medieval outfits look so sexy?

I'm loving the plot too it's really moving along. All the actors are doing a really good job. Matthew Macfadyen impressed me in this one and Eddie Redmayne again I thought stood out and impressed me.

Agree with both of you. I blinked and it was over. 55 minutes seemed to fly by. I guess they dont have the time to expand on Tom and Ellens relationship...other than the physical. And agree not enough skin. I guess they are in a hurry! We will have to count on Numbat to do that for us. Overall I think they are doing a good job condensing the book into 8 hours. Although I would be perfectly ok with it being all about Tom Builder!

Tom seems to be more of a lover than a fighter...which is fine with me. The "good guys " are very good, the "bad guys "are very bad. Great cast! Hate to think Tom may exit in epi 5 or 6, but I will continue to watch.

Tom & Ellen in the cave is burning in my head now - not just because of the appallingly inadequate way we fangirls were catered to, but because i just want to know what else went on. Surely he would have spent the night there, surely they talked about things.

Yes, for the few seconds we got it was remarkably erotic (thanks to Rufus's remarkable eroticness acting), but there would be so, so much more that happened in that cave. And that scene was not in the book!!!

As rueful has pointed out, without more expansion, it makes their relationship look like it was based on nothing but lust - which i guess plays along with the theory that seems to be being pushed that she is indeed a witch, but i still like to think there is more to their relationship than that - and she hasn't just bewitched him!!

Mmmmm, looks like poor Jacob is going to have to wait for another week............

What is it with the incestuous relationship between Regan and William? I believe it's been posted that it's not in the book (I certainly don't remember it). I guess just to make them more evil and unlikable.

I too like how the Jack/Aliena story is unfolding.

All in all, good job on #3! Lots of deviation from the book but we have to expect that. Like kygal said, they're trying to condense 1000 pages into 8 hours.

Edited to add: Waaaa!! Starz.com isn't showing episode 3! Now I have to wait until 2100 to watch it again! Just. Not. Fair.

I didn't read the book so I didn't know until I read it here that it was new. I'm not sure why they made that change. Reagan already seems evil enough, and it garners sympathy for William, which I don't think he deserves.

No, we got rid of our DVR because we just weren't using it and it was $15 a month that we could use elsewhere. It's probably best that I can't tape it AND can't get it online. I'd hog the TV or be online all the time! It should be on DVD fairly soon anyway.

Back to the movie...Does anyone else but me like music? It's so haunting and beautiful. Can't get it out of my head!

My mom thought their was mention of incest in the book between William and his mother...but she may be confussing it with the mini series.

ROFL kygal - I was hoping my story would include intelligent conversation, but so far it just involves much more time in the cave!!! Because of course they are ALONE in the cave. ALL NIGHT!!! I have given up hope that this story will be in the least bit deep or intellectual.........
